The brownies were delicious and easy to make...i added a little more food coloring to really make the color pop and a tad bit more sugar to make them a little sweeter the second time...yes we've made this over and over since this episode first aired lol great job sunny!!

I made a double batch to carry over to a Christmas gathering. I was surprised that it did not call for any kind of baking soda/powder. I was puzzled.
We are a cream cheese family and thought they were very very good. The only thing they did not stay together to good.
Will make em again and again....it's a keeper

I also found that the baking time is longer than stated in the recipe...with that, I can't figure out how to keep the cream cheese layer from turning brown with the extra bake time. Any ideas?

so delicious! I made these as part of my homemade holiday goody baskets. The color worked really good with the holiday theme! But the taste...I love red velvet cake but am not a huge fan of the cream cheese icing that goes with it, but the filling is much tastier than the usual icing. I am going to put this on one of my go to recipes lists. It was so easy and I always have the ingredients on hand.

These would be extremely good, BUT there is one critical flaw in this recipe. There is no mention of baking soda/powder and based on looking at other brownie recipes there absolutely needs to be!

I was really surprised to find this major error in a recipe published by the Food Network.

I agree with the reviewers who said the cream cheese layer is great but the brownie layer is disappointing. I prefer my brownies a tad on the gooey side and this recipe gears itself towards a cakey brownie. And since others mentioned having to cook them longer than the recipe calls for, I cooked them 5 minutes longer and ended up regretting it. The cream cheese was the best part but still felt over-cooked.

The brownie part lacks moisture and would probably benefit from the addition of a square or two of melted baking chocolate–or substituting it for the cocoa powder altogether–as well as the use of buttermilk rather than vinegar for more moisture. It also needs about 1/4-1/2 cup more of sugar. They weren't really sweet at all. I will definitely try these again but will make some alterations since I love red velvet and want these to be good!

I know why everyone is getting cake instead of brownies. You never melt butter when baking. You cut in the room temp butter into a bowl of all the dry ingredients. Then you mix all the wet ingredients into a separate bowl and then mix them together. The mix should be thick and somewhat grainy. And don't bake longer than 30 mins. Do this and your brownies should come out perfectly chewy!

I loved the idea of this recipe but it fell a little short. The cream cheese layer is wonderful, but the red velvet part is more like a cakey brownie than a chewy red velvet cake (which is what I was looking for. I think there's too much cocoa powder. Next time I think I might try to find a chewy blondie recipe, add in a little cocoa powder/ food coloring and use this cream cheese swirl.

My family Loved these brownies, even those who do not normally like red velvet cakes. Though they have a little more of a cake texture than a chewy brownie texture, they are still delicious!!! Thanks Sunny!!!
