I've made it a practice to read the reviews...I knew something was missing in the recipe, PANKO breadcrumbs! I thought this was very tasty. I did stray away from the recipe a little. I used a 1/2 lb more of potato and about a 1/4 cup more of the manchego chz, which topped off my last potato layer; I lighlty sprinkled smoked paprika & black pepper over the potato layers instead of cayenne pepper. I mixed the PANKO w/about a tbsp of melted butter & sprinkled it over the gratin and continued baking it as the directions advised for 20 minutes more.
My family really liked it...

This is not the complete recipe used on the show. The potatoes were topped with a mixture of Japanese bread crumbs, parmesan cheese and cayenne pepper.
