From time to time my husband would mention how his mom made shepherd's pie when he was growing up and how he missed it. I saw Sunny make this dish and I just had to try it. My family devoured the whole casserole that night and my husband kissed my on the check and said "delicious honey". Thanks Sunny, I'm becoming a real fan.

This is the first time I have ever posted a review for a recipe. This recipe is absolutely delicious! I made a few modifications, but the end result is fabulous.

I usually don't post reviews but this recipe was great. Everyone in my family loved it. I thought it was easy and the ingredients didn't cost a fortune to make. I have been watching Sunny's show and I plan to try many more of her recipes. It's really refreshing to see someone on Tv who seems to be real (if you know what I mean. She does a great job and I really hope foodnetwork gives her some prime time hours.

I did a few things different because I am just one person. It doesn't pay me to get a whole bag of potatoes. I got the Steam and Mash potatoes. Worked fine for me I just add milk, a little sour cream and butter. Great. And I didn't have to waste all those other potatoes. Instead of peas I used cut green beans. They are my favorite and they added color. Don't know if it was because I hadn't cooked a meal in my kitchen for awhile or what. But that recipe was great. I had enough vegetables that I am going to turn those in a vegetable soup. I am going to get some Knorrs Vegetable Soup mix and some tomato juice. And I hope to recreate my mother's vegetable soup. You can add hamburger and make steak soup. Never could figure out why they called it Steak Soup... when you use hamburger.

Thank you so much sunny. This recipe was a hit with my whole family. It was gone within seconds by the time it hit the table. I loved the spicyness of the dish and the cheese was to die for. I think next time ill have to increase the meat to 2 and a half pounds so we can have seconds. We have a big family. This recipe will be a keeper. yum

My family could not get enough of it. I love mushrooms, so I addtional mushroom to the gravy. We kept eating leftovers until the dish was gone. A friend of ours stated he could eat this on a daily basis. It took me longer to prep than stated and I think I dirtied every pan/dish in the house, but I it was well worth the time invested and the dishes washed.

It's a bit labor-intensive. I used the same pot to cook everything...after the meat, then I did the veggies, and then made the gravy. Used lots of bowls but only one pot. I also put the cooked meat into the gravy before starting the layering. If you do it that way, make sure you let the gravy reduce for a bit or the pie will be too runny. I cut the wine to 1/2 cup because one cup made it too "winey." After I put it together, I let it "set up" in the fridge for a couple of hours. (You could keep it in overnight too. Didn't have havarti so I used jack. Husband isn't a big fan of zucchini so I added thawed peas instead to the cooked vegetables. It was amazing. Even the non-veggie family members went nuts for it. I think it's hard to screw this one up which makes it ideal for me! I can see where it's also very versatile. Yummy dish.

My daughter loves Cheesecake Factory's shepards pie but when I made this she was over the moon - heard comments all evening and again this morning from her and my 8 yr old grandson of how "wonderful dinner was last nite and please can we have that again soon" Not a peep about all the "veggies" in the dish, lol/

Loved this recipe! I added yellow and red peppers, mushrooms and red onion for added flavor. I will be making this again and again.

Tatiana...heavy cream is in the dairy section of your grocery store near half-n-half and whipping cream. They usually come in what looks like a small milk carton container. Can't wait to try this recipe as well, Sunny's recipes are always great!
