Made these last year with jalapenos from our garden. First time I made them, I had no chorizo, so I substituted a little bit of cooked burger. The second time I made them I used the chorizo, and I thought it was a little spicier the second time. I loved how once baked though, they were not very spicy. Flavor was excellent!!!

I have made this recipe for family, friends and co-workers, and everyone loves them!!!! These are the best appetizer for parties and get togethers.

Easy to make, easy to prep ahead of time....beautiful flavours...can make it as spicy or chilled out as you want. I made this for my birthday bash and I was thrilled beyond words. I used a combo of jalapeno and chipotle hot sauces and threw them on the grill (with tin foil because it was well over 90 degrees outside and my AC was maxed out. They came out awesome. They were a hit, and I will make them again. Like other reviews said, doesn't matter if they get cold or not. Perfect party food.

I made these several times and they were never any left. They are great hot but also just as good cold. You cannot eat just one.

i made these for a party and they were gone with in the first 30 minutes we were there. Everyone begs me to bring them now.. It is a little time consuming but well worth it. i always buy the chorizo at Walmart it is next to the refrigerated tortillas and Mexican queso's.

How exactly would you define a sausage "link"? Length, ounces, etc.? I'd like anyone's opinion on this, as I tend to use too much. Much appreciated and have a great day, Peggy

I made these and was very disappointed. I will concede that maybe my chorizo was not the best or even the right chorizo. I found the taste of these poppers to be dull and blah. The addition of Gouda did not make sense to me after I tasted them, because I really could not discern the taste of that "not exactly cheap cheese". I will say that I used this recipe as a base and changed a few things to really enjoy my experience. First I used hot breakfast sausage instead of the chorizo. Owen's or Jimmy Dean's are great. I also substituted a regular Colby/Jack cheese for the Gouda and I slid some pepper-jack cheese in also for some more kick. Leaving the rest of Sunny's recipe the same, I really enjoyed the way these poppers turned out.

and they taste great! even my 14 yr old daughter ate them.
I used a 10oz roll of chorizo because that's all we can find in our store..I just drained off alot more grease than did and mine was darker but still they were all eaten quickly..I also left out the egg because I didn't think it needed it and it was still awesome.
