This is very delicious. The topping reminds me of caramel apples or toffee, which are two of my favorites.

I wish I had read the comments before I tried this one.....
The frosting was sooo delicious but the bottom was too bitter and so dry...
I will try again..with more milk or semi-sweet chocolate.

This was one of the best (but most calorie-full desserts i have ever made. Just because you dont know how to bake, dont blame Sunny/the recipe!

I am new to baking and make crazy assumptions that everything one needs to know to make the recipe work will be listed ex. sugar with the unsweetened choc.
My kids waited up to try them and, it was kind of funny actually, we all took a bite at the same time and spitted it out! The only thing good was the icing.

I'm sorry to say that we didn't like these. The topping was good - like a Queens Cake or German Chocolate Cake, but the bottom was not sweet at all - it was challky and bitter. I think it needs more sugar. I don't know if there was a mistake in the recipe or what, but the bottom was just not right, and I followed the recipe exactly. Sorry, this recipe went in my circular file - the garbage.

If you make these and plan to stick to a diet, make sure that you have enough people to eat them all so you don't have to bring them home, because you will eat them all until you are sick. They are SO GOOD!!!

OMG!!! So yummy!! For some reason others who posted comments saying the cookie layer was "bitter" must not have followed the recipe correctly. Whenever you bake with unsweetened chocolate, you have to add sugar to make it sweet. (DUH This was absolutely rich and decadent, and must go down with an extremely cold glass of milk. I think the next time I make it, I will try toasting my coconut before adding it to the topping.

THIS RECIPE IS DELICIOUS. EVERYTHING SUNNY COOKS IS DELICIOUS. I WISH SHE WAS ON """PRIME TIME"""" HERE IN SAN ANTONIO. WE HAVE TO TURN THE FOOD NETWORK OFF WHEN MELISSA """THE AMATEUR """"" COMES ON. SHE SHOULD HAVE A SHOW FOR KIDS----NOT ON PRIME TIME.

This recipe was a complete waste of ingredients. There must be a mistake with regard to the "unsweetened" chocolate in the base. If you use unsweetened chocolate, it is bland and bitter. I made this for my family of seven and no one would eat it. It ended up in the garbage.........If you are trying it for the first time, use regular chocolate and it might be ok.
