According to the recipe, they are "easy" to make but that's not quite the case. They aren't the most difficult recipe but there are a lot of steps and a lot of ingredients. The chocolate cookie was a little too hard for my liking but overall, I rather liked the finished product.

Felice...the bar is 1/2 cup butter which is ONE STICK, the topping is 3/4 cup butter which is ONE AND ONE HALF STICKS, not THREE STICKS.
These are delicious, by the way.

I am getting ready to make this recipe. Is it correct that 2 sticks butter was used for the base AND 3 sticks for the glaze? That just seems like too much for Sunny to use? Please help!

The topping reminded me of german chocolate cake icing - which was why I made this in the first place - and was good. But the bottom was like a really dry, floury shortbread cookie. I was very disappointed.

I watched this episode yesterday and made the bars today - had everything already at home, so no need to go to the store even! I used a pan that was slightly larger than the 1/4 sheet dimension given, but the bake time of 20 minutes still worked for me. The only change I made was to use slightly sweet dark chocolate (65% cacao instead of unsweetened chocolate. I've learned from previous experience that unsweetened chocolate is just too bitter for my taste. I also used a silpat instead of buttered parchment paper. I was generous in the amounts I added for pecans and coconut, since I love that combination. I just had a small piece after refrigerating for about an hour, and it is delicious! I expect the topping to get firmer the colder it gets, but nowhere near "tooth breaking" hard! I expect the rest of my family will love this dessert as well, since it is a "bar" version of german chocolate cake with coconut pecan frosting -- an all time favorite in our house! I will keep this recipe and make it when I'm jonesing for chocolate, nuts and coconut.

This brownie recipie was so delicious. I nearly ate the whole entire thing by my self . Its chewy yet fudgy and sweet not as bitter as I thought the chocolate would be .

This was the most disgusting thing i think i have ever made so far! i follow the recipe exactly and it was just horrible. i dont understand why unsweented chocolate was used, maybe if could have been better with regular. the bottom was extremely bitter and the glaze was so hard you could have broken a tooth. i will def throw this recipe out
