This was absolutely delicious! I am a southerner, but have never liked chicken and dumplings because both of my parents are from the north. They were always doughy blobs of ick, but these were soooo much better! I used dried herbs instead of fresh because that is all I had, and the dumplings were perfectly yummy. I used 1/2 bisquick and 1/2 flour for the dumplings. There were a few extra dumplings than would fit in the pot. I used b/s chicken breasts, and chopped celery that I left in. It came out more wonderful than I expected, and it's definitely a keeper.

The dumplings are different from my moms but that was what we wanted it was great and the kids ate it without complaints. We didn't have any leftovers! I have made this recipe about 10 times now.

I made this recipe after watching the show and the flavor is amazing, however, it was bad because the taste was so good that we all ate extra. The chicken was bad. I purchased a "value buy" whole chicken which I believe made us ill. Yet, the recipe was so good I had to try again and it is truly a keeper. I no longer purchase the "value buy" items if I happen to visit this store since this is the second time this has happened but with a different product. With everyone trying to save a dime this is a great option because whole chickens are usually purchased at a discounted price. I am going to try the same ingrediants but using Turkey necks the next time I make this dish and serve with rice.

I grew up in the south also(SC -My grandmother rowed hers out and I loved them this way.and I'm not too fond of the dropped ones--also my grandma didn't come from PA.--They are made both ways in the south --I always thought that the dropped ones, were from the north--because most of the northern based recipes refering to"sothern chicken and dumplins"were dropped ones --I was so excited to see Sunny's recipe --Theres also a recipe by the country singer Tim Mcgraw online he was on Oprah and his was the rolled out version his Grandma gave him--I've tried them and you might want to try them--just go to Oprahs archives into Tim Mcgraw visit and chicken and dumplin recipe or search on one of the search engines (google, ask ..etc.Tim Mcgraw chicken and dumplins---also you might need to check the flour you used.---But these --no Ma'am are not Pennsyvania Dutch noodles--and like some other people said it might be that you don't like rolled dumplings and just like the dropped kind --and if thats the case Sunny don't deserve a response from you or the others, because you'll never change you mind, they're just not for your palate,

This is a great easy alternative to making the dumplings with eggs, shortening, flour, milkj, etc. Ten times easier and my husband didn't even know they were different. I'll be using this recipe from now on!!!

I followed the directions exactly and was a little disappointed. There is too much liquid, and it takes a lot of flour to thicken it. I did love the herbs in the dumplings, but they needed an egg or something added. I'm from the South, and this is not like what I'm used to having. I like a creamy, thicker style sauce with the chicken and dumplings. I did like one reviewer's idea of adding making a white sauce and adding it. That may help, and I will try this one more time with the white sauce before I decide to eliminate it from my recipe box. I will also use just enough broth and water to cover the chicken and no more. Like some of the other reviewers, I also added carrots and kept all the vegetables in the sauce. It has much more eye appeal that way.

These were a hit! NO leftovers. Although, not quite as good as my grandmothers used to make.

This is cold weather comfort food at its finest! I followed the instructions to a T without thickening the broth and it turned out great! My kids even loved it! Next time I will follow the directions to thicken the broth and try it that way as well. I was really impressed with the texture and flavor of the dumplings and the overall savoryness of these dumplings....LOVED THEM!!
