I tried this recipie, and it was delicious! I did three things differently: 1 I added vegestable stock instead of chicken stock. 2 I I also let the pieces of dough simmer in the stock for one hour before adding the chicken pieces back into the stock. I did this because at the beginning, the dough tasted sticky. Letting the dough simmer for one hour cooked it very well and tasted much, much better. 3 To prepare the dough, I added one cup of flour and one cup of Bisquick .

I followed the recipe as is stated on the website. It definitely took longer then 45 minutes. The only problem is I didnt like the dumplings. My son didnt either. They were very blah tasting. I made the dumplings with bisquick. It was so much better.

where it says, '1 sprig of sage stems plus a tablespoon of leaves, it means sage leaves etc. Which ever herb is used, also add the leaves. At the end, you will remove the stems but the leaves stay in the broth. I guess it would ahbve been clearer to say add 2 sprigs plus a tblsp of leaves.

Can anyone help me? I haven't made this yet so I was wondering if anyone knew what the term 'leaves' was. In the recipe it calls for I think like 1 T. or tsp. of chopped leaves? It really doesnt give a specific name, so I was wondering what everyone else used. Thanks!

Never had a dumpling before in my life... saw it on TV, 9 yr old son said, "that looks good." We made it 4 nights later. Took a bit longer than I expected, but I did everything exactly as recipe calls for. Delicious! My family is so excited we have LEFTOVERs for tomorrow!!

They were so easy to make and so full of flavor. These were probably the best ones I have ever made. Even my picky kids ate and ate and ate.

This is great. i didn't change a thing. Loved the flat dumplings, the flavors of the whole dish is out of this world. I took some to my mom's for her and my grandparents to taste, and they had to agree, it was better than theirs.
    Thanks Sunny!!!

I thought the recipe was a great starting point for me. I modified it a bit, to make it suit my tastes, and what I think Chicken and Dumplings should taste like.

For starterts, I kept my (chopped celery in the soup (cooked with the butter, garlic, and onion rather than throwing in later and added chopped carrot as well (also cooked with first round of veggies. I also made more of a drop dumpling bc I didn't want to dirty another surface.

Finally, because the soup was on the thin side (even after adding the butter/flour mix as suggested in the recipe, I made a quick white sauce with 4tbsp butter, 1.5 c. milk, and 4 tbs. flour which seriously elevated this dish to a whole other level. I nearly made myself sick over eating it!

My bf and I weren't thrilled with the whole peppercorns in the soup, so I'll probably use freshly ground ones next time.

This was my first time making chicken and dumplings and it came out perfect! I added peas and carrots to make it a more balanced meal, but other than that didn't change a thing. I'm accustomed to chicken and dumplings with a thicker sauce, this one was more soupy (even after adding lots of flour but still delicious! They herbed dumplings were so yummy.
