I like spicy but cut the cayenne in half and it was still very hot.

Great recipe - loved the celery root - and the incorporation of a new way to do veggies for my loved ones!. I also added some new spices to my collection. The fries were a little burnt looking yet were not crispy.

We love hot and spicey in my family but the cayenne was too much, cut it back to a scant teaspoon and it will be just right. As far as crispiness, use your broiler at the end to crisp them up, yummy!

If you like spicy food, this is the seasoning mix for you. BUT... cut the salt in half; it's really too much in proportion to the other ingredients. Enjoy!

If you cook this at the temperature in the recipe, BEWARE as even at 30 minutes and torned over part way through, one side of the fries were charcoal! Also, I only used half the cayenne, and they were still quite hot. The flavor of what we could cut off the charcoal was delicious.

I really loved these fries! I did not use celery root, b/c I didn't have that on hand. Rather than use the 5 Spice (grocery store didn't have it, I just threw in some cinnamon and groud cloves. They were excellent, and I'm not even a huge sweet potato fan. The sweet and spicy was wonderful. I feel like you can pretty much play around with this recipe and use whatever spices you have at home.

It was my first time cooking with celery root and I loved it! The celery root and the sweet potato went very well together with all the seasoning. I would advise baking it about 3 minutes less because some of mine were burnt.

The spice is amazing, especially on the sweet potato! It was my first time cooking with celery root and I really didn't like it after the first few fries. But def. worth trying once!

these fries are PHENOMENAL! If you love spicy food... you will LOVE these fries! I found frozen sweet potatoes already diced in to fries at the super market. Just tossed them in the spice mix without the olive oil and baked for 20 minutes. Amazing!! Small tip on the 5-spice... I found it at both Whole Foods and Central Market, in their fresh spice section. Buy it by the ounce... MUCH cheaper. You can buy only what you need rather than an entire bottle that you'll only use once every year. My purchase for this recipe only cost me a nickle.
