Make these fries! I thought the flavor combinations were wonderful. This was my first celery root. I liked it, but did think they are a bit pricey. Don't let that stop you from making this dish, because you can always replace it with another sweet potato or two. My fries were not crispy, but I expect that with sweet potatoes, and it certainly did not affect my enjoyment of a great new side dish.

I always like recipes incorporating different vegetables. I've only used celery root before by boiling it with and mashing it with my mashed potatoes - great fresh flavor. I loved these; but for me I'd put only 1/2 tsp cayenne in next time - my lips are still burning. I cooked longer and put on my convection near the end to try to make them crispy. I've never had luck making my sweet potato oven fries crispy and the celery root is similar. Still a delicious side dish. I served it with Sunny's cider brined turkey breast from the Nov 15 show. Both were great.

Delicious! Thanks for introducing a little known veggie like celery root. I will be using it more often.

We were a little weirded out when we saw Miss Sunny bust out the 5-spice but OH MY is it worth giving it a try. The spice mixture bakes so well together and I promise you a sweet potato party in your mouth! You won't be sorry you tried this one! Thanks Miss Sunny! My 5 spice now has a purpose!

This was the first time I had celery root. It was pretty good with the sweet potatoes. Probably a little too much cayanne pepper for us. I would definately make this again.

I've tackled sweet potato fries before, in the oven. They would come out quite soggy. These fries,we found to be simply delicious! They carmalized nicely, and the seasoning was to die for! My man actually had SECONDS! It was fun testing out something new, the celery root.

I didn't know finding the five spice would be a problem, I have seen it in the grocery store, and I had some, at one time, in my pantry. In the middle of making the fries I found out I no longer had it in the cupboard! Yikes! On an emergency run we found out that every grocery store around didn't have it, or no longer carried it. I found a substitue recipe for making it online though, which required another trip. Let me tell you, it is WELL worth the effort tracking down this spice, or making it yourself. It makes the difference between so-so fries and something simply mouth watering.

Becareful towards the end of the cooking time. I found out mine had burned bits on one side of the pan, but even the burned bits were yummy, The burned bit was just from the carmalization of the sugars in the sweet potatos. So, if yours look burned, don't throw away without tasting first! I swear, not ONE fry, burned bits and all, survived dinner. **laughter**
