This is almost the same recipe I grew up on, and what a rush of warmth and fond memories rushed over me. We always had this when in season fresh from the garden, maybe two or three times a week and we loved it.
It is one of those comfort foods when you get tired of the same old vegetables, (peas, corn or green/waxed yellow beans it's easy enough to fix. We always used butter, brown sugar, and just a dash of Nutmeg. Unfortunately, over the years I had lost my mothers recipe. Now that I'm on my own again, I'm thankful I was able to find this recipe.

Loved it- made it twice in a week. My college student daughter that used to only eat "chicken off the bone" loved it.

This was my first time making Acorn Squash, this dish was a great side dish. I had large squash so I did add a little more butter, sugar and a dash of cinnamon. I will make this dish again.

Despite the amount of butter in the dish and sugar I felt that it left it to be bland which I was surprised at, I think it was good to try but lacked flavor.

The nutmeg was way too overpowering. It took away from the natural flavor of the squash. I wouldn't make this recipe again.
