This sandwich is fantastic, especially together with the roasted tomato soup. The challah bread makes the sandwich. We skipped the cranberry sauce, used the mayo on both slices of bread, then served with assorted jams on the side so each person could choose what they wanted.

Fun - we skipped the sauce and just went for the sandwich. Delish

Instead of using frozen cranberries, I used a can of whole cranberry sauce. It tasted really good

Eh...I wouldn't say it's as good as everyone is saying. It was good until you get to the cranberry sauce. I made it w/ fresh cranberries. It threw the whole sandwich off. ENTIRELY too bitter. It would taste okay w/ canned cranberry, but my husband and I both agreed it would taste better w/ something like raspberry jam. It needed that sweet. Also, you could def. play w/ the cheese selection. I like the Neely's Monte Cristo recipe better.

I made these tonight and they came out beautiful. Cranberry sauce was easy and added a nice touch. My son and husband loved them too. Love you Sunny:

This is the first time I ever tried a Monte Cristo and I really enjoyed it, I ran out of the gruyere since I had more people than I had anticipated so I used cracker barrel's baby swiss and it worked very well, also I couldn't find any frozen cranberries so I used a can of whole cranberry sauce in its place and it was delicious. I also ran out of the challah bread so I sliced up a loaf of sourdough bread - it was ok in a pinch but the challah seemed to be the bread of choice. Thank you Sunny for a great recipe!!

These were soooo good. Cranberry sauce is something I tend to have around in the fall so I didn't need to make this one. I immediately thought this with her Roasted Tomato soup will be perfect for the day after Thanksgiving when we're decorating inside and out for Christmas. Easy and a great use for leftovers!

BTW Holli, I live in Missouri and my grocery stores carry challah, brioche, you name it. Maybe it's because you're closer to KC than St. Louis:

I saw this receipe last week on Sunny's show, and I've been thinking about it all week. I made it tonight, and it was great! This is an easy, tasty sandwich that is a great twist on grilled cheese! A taste made for adults, but is warm and comforting, too.
