For the person who asked about the butter, 4 oz is indeed one stick of butter. A pound of butter is 16 oz. When you buy a pound of stick butter, you get 4 sticks, 4 oz each.

The recipe calls for 4 ounces (1 stick butter for the filling. Is 4 ounces or 1 stick of butter because 1 stick of butter equals to 8 ounces, not 4. Can someone please let me know.

This is pie recipe is the greatest! I only used the filling portion of the recipe and was able to create a wonderful tasting pie in which I had only ever dreamed of. Every year, I searched for and tried a different recipe, looking for the perfect tasting sweet potato pie and last year, finally found it. I did add a bit more of the spices, for exta flavor. I hope that you will enjoy it as much as my family and friends did.

This pie was by far the best pie have ever tasted! I did "cheat" a little, however, and it did not make a difference! For example, I did not use cloves, but instead used Mc Cormick's pumpkin pie spice. I also did not bake the sweet potatoes--I put them in the microwave and they turend out just fine. I also did not bake the crust--I bought a frozen one! Excellent recipe even with all of the exceptions that I made! :

I like this pie, it's a little sweet though. Sometimes I will substitute evaporated milk for sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar with brown sugar. Otherwise it's a very tasty pie.
