This soup recipe is GREAT if you work with it a bit.
1/2 cup coconut milk is in no way sufficient -- add the whole can.
Lime juice is also not enough to really make the soup -- make sure each guest gets their own lime for garnish, they'll need it.
And add 2-3 limes worth of juice to the soup.
Garnish with Sriracha as well as the onions/cilantro.
If you can't find the Thai sausage at specialty meat markets -- here's how it is made:
Choose a meat: chicken tenderloin strips, "hamburger" soy crumbles, ground chicken/turkey.
Then add drizzle well with Sriracha, add chopped cilantro and loads of pressed garlic and some fresh ground pepper.
Allow to marinate overnight and then make the recipe as indicated.

I used turkey kielbasa, and omitted the bamboo shoots. I also added the mushrooms with the onions. I also added a little red peppper flakes and a splash of fish sauce to make it more "Thai-like". I just added dried cilantro with the green onion at serving time. This recipe was a welcome change from the usual kraut and sausage or sausage and potato dinner we usually make with kielbasa.
