Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups (12-ounce package) chocolate chips
Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Line baking sheets with parchment or silicone baking sheets or spray cookie sheets with nonstick cooking spray.

Put the flour, baking soda, and salt into a bowl and stir it with a whisk to combine. Set aside.

Using a hand or stand mixer, beat the butter until it is lighter in color. Slowly add in sugars and beat until it is light and fluffy. Add the eggs 1 at a time and beat until they are incorporated. Stir in the vanilla. Add the flour mixture using low speed, then stir in the chocolate chips. Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake until the cookies are lightly browned around the edges, about 12 to 15 minutes. Let the cookies cool for a few minutes and then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.

Loved these cookies!! I used one cup of chocolate chips instead of two because my kids like more cookie then chip and they loved it! Crunchy on the outside and chewy in the center...perfect! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I will be making these cookies often. I have been making your Knock You Naked Brownies when I need a chocolate fix. These cookies do the same thing for me! Absolutely love them! item not reviewed by moderator and published
These are by far the best cookies I've ever made, I bring them to work and give to friends otherwise I would eat them all by myself. I made one change the second time I made them and instead of 1 1/2 Cups of light brown sugar I used a 1/2 cup of dark brown. These cookies came out very flat and crispy and were delicious too. Love them! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Double the vanilla, add instant pistachio pudding, and almonds....NOW you have the best chocolate chip cookie ever!!!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I make these all the time, by far the best cookie recipe I've found. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Deeelicious! You bite with a crunch and once your teeth hit the center you then get the chewy; oh so good. I tested with the light and dark brown sugars and did notice a little difference. It's a matter of individual preference.. I suggest one test by tasting when warm and also once room temperature. Personally, I like the dark brown sugar the best because it gives the cookie a slightly richer flavor. I've noticed some comments about the cookie being too flat. If your butter is too soft or even a little runny, that will make the cookie flat. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Amazing, chewy and soft item not reviewed by moderator and published
The recipe is a good one, but they can come out flat. You can do something simple to ensure a beautiful, puffy cookie that's crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside... your dough and trays should be ice cold before they go into a hot oven! my cookies almost burned up!!!!!! and they got all sticky.....definatly dont like it...at all! didnt like it...not the best chocolate chip cookie recipe..actually its the worst...:( item not reviewed by moderator and published
Not very good. Very thin and disappointing. The title was very misleading, these were NOT the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had, not even close. In fact, they were probably the worst cookies I have ever had in my life. They brought back very painful memories of my past, from which I may never recover. Step up your game food network. #disappointed. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Oh. My. Goodness!! These cookies were perfect! I've been looking a long time for a really good chocolate chip cookie recipe, one that has the perfect balance texture and taste wise and my search is over! This is now my only chocolate chip recipe, thanks a lot!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
The first time I made these I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out way too dense but the flavor was really good. Second time around I cut out half a cup of flour and added just a bit of extra vanilla. I also dropped the oven temp by 50 degrees and shortened the cook time but that may just be my poor old ovens fault. They turned out amazing! Good recipe but I thought it needed some adjustment. item not reviewed by moderator and published
excellent choc chip recipe....crispy edges, chewy middle...the perfect cookie. easy to make and easier to eat! I followed the recipe exactly....thanks for a great cookie item not reviewed by moderator and published

I only had self rising flour and salted butter, so I omitted the salt and baking powder (of course, and I reduce the flour by 1/4 cup. Still the best cookies ever! crisp edges and chewy middle... YUM! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I have been looking a LONG time for the recipe that will give me both the flavor and texture of my mom's chocolate chip cookies. Gotta have nuts. These are awesome! item not reviewed by moderator and published

Best!!! Whenever I make these people can't stop talking about them!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I followed the recipe exactly, but my cookies came out with a cake-like consistency... anyone know what I might have done wrong? It still tastes great, but I was hoping for more of a cookie - like consistency.. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I wanted to try a new chocolate chip cookie recipe. I have always made really good cookies from scratch. These cookies came out crispy on outside, chewy in center. They looked exactly like the picture shown. I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out great. I will use this recipe again. Thanks! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Goood cookies but they didnt come out like the picture, but it was still good. i made small and medium and huge cookies too! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Way too much flour, and cookies look nothing like pictured. Turned out thick. item not reviewed by moderator and published
i'm all out of brown sugar. Will the cookies be good without it? item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is my go to cookie. Everybody loves these! I always go a little extra on the chocolate chips. The brown sugar is what makes these! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I haven't made these yet, but I will. I just had to comment that George Duran is a wonderful chef. I have made his recipes before and they have all been excellent. He is the only chef I've seen who actually reads the reviews of his recipes and makes comments to help anyone who might need it. Amazing! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Exactly how I like my cookies - buttery and sugary and crispy! I made half the batch using an ice cream scoop and got some very nice larger cookies, then added almonds and almond butter to the second half and followed the heaping tablespoon method - both are yummy. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I'm not skilled in the kitchen by any means, but these were easy to make and tasted amazing!! Great recipe! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Loved these! item not reviewed by moderator and published
mine came out exactly like the picture. They taste good but could look a little nicer. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Seriously the best CC cookie I have ever made (or eaten! They don't come out as dark as in the picture, but still beautiful and absolutely delicious! item not reviewed by moderator and published
These are, indeed, good cookies! I was a little disappointed that my cookies weren't chocolate like in the picture. When I went to make the 3rd batch, they were CHOCOLATE!! They are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Just perfect. They DO taste like a good homemade cookie. I will keep this recipe and pass it on. Thanks!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
My family loved these!!! I think the thing to get the darker color is to use dark brown sugar. Also, I only had milk chocolate chips; I think semi-sweet would be a lot beter. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I was skeptical that this would be the "best" chocolate chip cookie recipe I'd ever tried. It turns out that this actually is a fantastic cookie recipe. It's simple. It tastes great. Best of all the cookie I tried on the day I made it retained the same consistency and ratio of crunch to soft a few days later when I ate the last cookie. It's nicely balanced and doesn't get hard or mushy... if they last that long. item not reviewed by moderator and published
So good! They come out flat, crispy on the outside, soft and chewy in middle,, the best! The trick to making them come out like they do in the picture is to leave them in for 1 min more. I made 2 trays of cookies and one tray I made 3 cookies to big, and they were not cooked all the way. The other 3 were just brown around the etdges. I just through the tray back in for another minute or two and they 3 that were just brown were a dark brown like in the picture, but they were not burnt. There is alot of butter in the recipe,, to me,,, but I don't make homemade cookies alot. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This recipe was very easy and the results were fantastic. I used sparkling sugar and they look and taste great! item not reviewed by moderator and published
These cookies are alright and I used 1 cup white chocolate chips and 1 cup milk chocolate chips. It gave them a little bit more flavor and was good. I also decreased time to 11 mins so that they woudn't burn. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This was my first time ever, baking cooking from scratch. Not only it was easy to make, but turned out pretty god! I was impressed with myself! Lots of flavor! What I like most about this recipe, is that it is basic and I can add whatever I like: Whit and dark chocolate chips, nuts, peanut butter and even cinnamon . I'll be making these again and again, but with a bit less sugar. item not reviewed by moderator and published
They weren't bad..but not as good as the Nestle Toll House recipe you get on the back of the bag..This recipe has about 1/4 C too much flour which gives it a dryer consistancy. Ok, but still, not the best. I'll stick to Nestles recipe until I do find the best. ;) item not reviewed by moderator and published
I followed the advice to cook for less time than called for (did 11-2 mins.). Really would have burned otherwise. Everyone loved them. A friend's husband ate four in a row (he is normally not a glutton). I would advise using a very good chocolate chip to really make this sing. item not reviewed by moderator and published
i made this cookie for the first time, and it was delicious. the recipe is easy, and adding extra chocolate chips makes it even better. item not reviewed by moderator and published
My cookies didn't come out like in the picture... but they are yummy. They aren't as thick as the cookies I usually make, but the flavor is good. I was able to get away with only baking for 10 minutes. item not reviewed by moderator and published
The cookies, I thought, were rather a bit too rich. THey were too salty and the dough was not bland enough to balance out the chocolate. I thought they were too rich, they gave me a stomach ache also. item not reviewed by moderator and published
it is a very delicous cookie but it does not carry alot of flavor item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made them with dark chocolate chips and I will never make them from another recipe... EVER item not reviewed by moderator and published
All of my guests loved these cookies to the point where one actually had a dream about them! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is just the kind of chocolate chip cookie that I like. I did bake them less time than specified, more like 10-12 minutes, since we like them chewy. I was a little short on the amount of chocolate chips and so substituted a 1/2 cup of butterscotch chips which we liked a lot. I am replacing my old stand-by recipe with this one. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I make these all the time, and they are really wonderful. I use 3/4 brown sugar and 3/4 cup of white, which equals to the total sugar in the recipe. My grandkids think that they are "awesome"!!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
The cookie itself is a GREAT ONE! Just like my grandmothers when I was growing up! And just like hers, these are FLAT! Think frisbee disk flat! I use three cups of flour along with ensuring that all other necessary items are at room tempature to make sure all can combine well! Again, give 'em a try, YOU WILL LOVE THEM! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I have tried dozens of different recipies for chocolate chip cookies and these are by far the best yet. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I've tried many, many chocolate chip cookie recipes and this one is by far the best. I love the crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Followed recipe to a T, used cooking spray to grease sheet. Correct temp, oven reliable. Complete mess and waste of top quality ingredients. item not reviewed by moderator and published
The secret to this recipe is only baking them for 10-11 minutes then taking them out; once they cool they are very soft and plyable (better than the best store-bought)! item not reviewed by moderator and published
These were decent, but not the "best chocolate chip cookie ever". They weren't really chewy enough for my taste..kinda crumbly and hard and crunchy. In all fairness, my parents and boyfriend loved them though, so I can't give them a bad rating. Just So-so. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This recipe is very much like Martha Stewart's "Alexis" cookies. My kids call these "Cow Pie Cookies", especially if you make them larger. To make the really soft in the middle (these or any other cookie) about five minutes into the baking time, open the oven and lift the edge of the cookie sheet and drop it on the oven shelf. If the cookies are pretty thick, you may need to do it again. Repeat the process in about another minute or so. It makes the cookies "fall" in the center and stay nice and gooey. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Sounds Like a Good Idea. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Very good but very sweet item not reviewed by moderator and published
I've tried this recipe a few times, and mine always turn out fluffier than the picture. I keep thinking they'll be chewier. They taste delicious though, and my favorite variation is: go easy on the sugar (1 c. brown, scant 1/2 c. white), add 10 oz. of butterscotch chips and 10 oz. flake coconut. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This recipe worked very well at high altitude (5000 feet). They were very tasty and a lit of fun to make. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I have been searching for a recipe where the choc chip cookie was not too cakey. This is it. Crunchy overall, with a hint of softness in the middle. Thank you! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Easy and great. item not reviewed by moderator and published
