Ingredients
- 2 pounds cooking apples, such as Winesap
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
Directions
Core and quarter apples (do not peel). In a large heavy saucepan combine all ingredients and bring to a boil, covered, over high heat. As soon as ingredients begin to boil, lower heat to a simmer. Simmer apples, covered, for 20 minutes. Remove pan from heat and let apples stand, covered, for 10 minutes before serving.

This was great. I used this as a base to make brandy apples, i just added the brandy and vanilla to the recipe. It tasted just like the brandied apples from longhorn steakhouse. Food network you have a new fan.

This is the one I was looking for. I used brown sugar, added raisins, and also some fresh grated nutmeg. Yum!

Made this tonight an had to make more after dinner my friends an family eat all of it an ask for more so I make more. The only thing I added to it is raisins to it. I think it would be a good base for an apple crisp to. I think I will try that soon and I will post it on here.
to all my happy food network friends happy cooking
