As noted by another reviewer, the recipe appears to make two pies. However, while baking, the filling expands considerably. Within 15 minutes, the pies were overflowing, and the kitchen was full of smoke. I suggest only filling sells 2/3 - 3/4 full to allow for expansion. The pie is good. The poor rating is based on the recipe not giving good instructions.

Husband is from PA and swears its as good as he ever had at home-- not bad seeing as how I'm a CA girl and had never even heard of the stuff!

As a teenager, I worked for a restaurant chain called Dutch Pantry, which is famous for its Shoo-Fly Pie. This is every bit as tasty. Wonderful recipe! But you'll end up with enough filling and crumb topping for *two* pies, so plan your measurements accordingly.
