The recipe calls for 1 lb of jr mints, this is way too much. I used only 8 oz and that much was very overwhelming minty wise. Had to pick several out. Use just 1, 4 oz box and save some money on this dessert.
Otherwise it was a great dessert and a crowd pleaser. Most people will really like this.

If I were to make this pie in a normal pie pan, not a casserole dish, how much mint ice cream should I use?

    Besides that, it looks great.

I loved this recipe and I am not the biggest chocolate, or mint fan. It just sounded so good I had to try it. I ate almost the whole pie myself, but did let my husband and daughter have a little. Thanks Guy.

This was so easy to make, and very good. All my friends raved about it. I mix a little whipped topping into the ice cream to make it easier to spread. It was great!

Tastes great and requires very little effort to make. I folded the mints in the ice cream by hand to keep them from breaking open.

A reviewer asked how much ice cream you needed. I made this in a 9 x 13 casserole dish using one 1/2 gallon of mint-chip ice cream, 1 1/2 sticks of butter, 1 1/2 packages of oreo cookies, 1 large box of junior mints (4.5 oz and 1 package of Andes Candies mint chips (used for cookies. I didn't use all Junior Mints because of the cost factor ($6.00 total for 4 boxes v. $2.83 for the mint chips.

I'm glad I used the mint chips. The bites I had that were Junior Mint were just "OK." I thought it tasted a bit strange with a chemical-y taste (and I love junior mints. The bites that had all Andes chips were fantastic! The chips added to the mint flavor while adding a nice chocolate finish.

If you tried this and didn't like it with the Junior Mints, try it with the Andes Candies. With Junior Mints alone, I probably would have rated this lower due to a strange after-taste and the cost factor.
