This recipe is amazing! I would not change a thing. It looks beautiful, tastes delicious and is pretty easy to make. This is one of my favorite dessert recipes from the Food Network Magazines and the show. Make it - you won't be sorry! Thanks Sunny !

I got down to the end of the recipe before I realized that I needed to have rum. I didnt have any and didnt think to add the extract. I will try that the next time. However, even without the rum, this was delicious.
Thanks for a new and exciting desert recipe!

I must say I didn't know you could make caramel. It was AMAZING!!!!!!! It's very sweet so I might cut down some of the sugar but it's a keeper. I followed the directions exactly. Only thing I didn't use was real rum and Banana liquor. I used rum extract. The shake was very thick. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a great surprise for our 5 children and their teenage friends tonight for dessert! Everyone thought it was excellent and commented that this was "a keeper". Their ages range from 5 to 18 years old and it pleased everyone. I substituted rum extract for the alcohol and added it to the butter and sugar (I used brown sugar while it was melting. I then substituted 1/4 tsp Banana Extract for the Banana Liquor and added it just before blending. We topped each shake with fresh whip cream and a drizzle of the caramel sauce. Beautiful and delicious!

An alternative is to use rum extract which will duplicate the flavor & omit the alcohol. It's a good choice for the kid safe version.
