Ingredients

  • 1 (28-ounce) can baked beans (recommended: Bush's Baked Beans)
  • 1/4 small onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon spicy mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped or pulled pork shoulder meat

Directions

Put the beans and onions in a saucepan and heat over medium-high heat until it bubbles. Add ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar. Heat another 5 minutes. When ready to serve, sprinkle the pork meat across the top.

    These beans were a hit on the Fourth of July - not a single bean left uneaten. I put bacon bits on top instead of the pork shoulder. It was all good.

    This is a great recipe. Fast, easy and tasty. When I'm not cooking pulled pork, I substitute bacon instead. It couldn't be better!

    This is the exact same recipe I have been using for years to make my baked beans. If no pork shoulder meat is handy, use bacon, it works great!
