This cake with the Hot Chocolate Buttercream is simply amazing. Yes, there are alot of tastes going on here (Cinnamon, Chocolate, Ancho, Vanilla... but they compliment each other so very well. The cinnamon cake itself is very versatile and pairs well with regular buttercream if you don't like the spiced up chocolate one. I've made the cake several times. The first one came out what I thought was too dense but having made it now for the 15th time, I realize it's just how it is. Michelle Doll has definately outdone herself with this one. Love it, Love it !!

This recipe is definetly at the top of my list for the strangest thing I have ever made. I don't even know how to rate it. The flavors were very weird together. I can't even imagine having this flavor cake at my wedding, I would think that there would be a lot of plates with left-over cake on it, because when I took the first bite of mine, I did not take another one. It is just very strange, not disgusting just very weird. It's like you taste cinnamon, and then some chocolate, and then you taste the heat from the spices. I don't know, maybe I am the one who is strange, but this is definelty not one I will be making again. I personally think that Bobby's cake sounds like it was probably way better tasting. I plan on making it sometime soon. Sorry Michelle!

I made this cake for my friends wedding. There were so many great compliments, my best friends daughter wanted it for her birthday!!
It takes great, but you must like cinnamon because it's more like a coffee cake than cake.

I found it very hard to find measurements. Anyway, what I came up was very good. The Buttercream is amazing and I will make it over and over.

I ADORE this cake. It was so moist and delicious. It is a dense cake but that's what I wanted on a cold winter night. I served it at a dinner party and it's all anyone could talk about. I had some extra frosting left over which I'll freeze until the next last minute bake sale happens.

Very easy to make. The icing is what makes the cake awesome.

This cake is awesome! I took it to a dinner party and it was a huge success! After reading all the reviews, here is how I altered the recipe: Cooked the cake for 30min. Converted and halved the frosting recipe: 8 egg whites, 2c sugar, 2 sticks butter, 1 1/4c of semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1t cinnamon, 1t ancho chile pepper, 1/2t cayenne pepper, 1t vanilla. Good Luck!

This cake was wonderful! Be very cautious while converting grams into cups. It won't turn out if you don't do them right. I will make this cake many more times!!

The frosting was very nice, but the cake was not as soft and light as I would have liked. I also thought the cake had too much cinnamon - it reminded me of a coffee cake with chocolate frosting. Too weird tasting, too many flavors going on - just too busy. I'm going to tweak the cake recipe a bit and get a milder, softer version that will really complement the frosting.

I made this cake for my small family-style cafe. I wasn't sure if I had converted the measurements correctly, though. The frosting tasted terrific, but it was a little soft without being refrigerated. I may not bake the cake as long when I make it again, though, as I like my cake a bit more moist. (A personal preference. The customers and crew all thought it was great!
