I will just reiterate what a few others have said in that I am so disappointed mostly due to the fact that this is a time consuming recipe and the title is very misleading. It was easy, but many steps and time involved. I do not fear steps and time IF the payoff is there. From the title I was expecting a rich, dark chocolate cake with a 'dark fudge' frosting. This cake and frosting are so pale and sickeningly sweet (and I weighed the sugar! that it is more like milk chocolate which I personally cannot stomach. If you like milk chocolate, you may love this cake. The cheesecake layer is good. I'll give it 2 stars for that I guess and it is pretty...but would be prettier with a very dark colored cake and frosting and perhaps dark and white chocolate curls then.

I have had Junior's Devil's food cheesecake many times and this is not it. The actual cheesecake is very good. However, the devil's food cake is far from the cake at the restaurant and the icing is more like buttercream than chocolate fudge. If they claim this is the actual recipe than one would have to assume that they add food coloring to get the deep rich chocolate brown color since the color of this cake and icing were very light. If I had made this prior to eating it at the restaurant I certainly would not be inspired to travel to the city to get it. Although, the cake was tasty after I replaced the devil's food cake with my own recipe it was not the same. If I make it again I will also find a new icing recipe as well. I did follow the directions exactly and feel confidant in my abilities in doing such since I make and decorate cakes as a side job. I am also very skilled in precision and direction as I mix chemotherapy for a living.

I made this cake on my own a few years ago for my sisters 17th birthday. I was 12. This recipe is amazing! It?s a lot of cake but I found it to be very good. Everyone loved it. The cheesecake part was one of the best I?ve ever tried, this recipe defiantly takes a little work and time but it is completely worth it. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to challenge themselves and has a few hours to spare. On a whole this recipe is AWSOME!!

I agree with a previous review that the Devil's Food cake was light brown and kinda heavy and dry. The cake is supposed to be spongy like an Angel's food cake. I will remake this but with a different Devil's food cake recipe.

I had this cake for my birthday last weekend. It was AMAZING. I'm glad it was so rich that my friends couldn't finish it all. I have a big leftover hunk of this chocolately heaven sitting in my fridge and I can't wait to finish it all by myself!

I want to start out by saying that the cheesecake part is wonderful. The cheesecake by its self would be perfect. However... the devils food cake, not a bad taste, but it didn't look like devils food and didn't taste like it. Ok, here comes the main reason for the so so review.... It is a heart attack waiting to happen!! My heart started pounding with the first bite. Not to mention that it was a lot of effort for all of it together...I didn't think that it was worth all of the effort. I will just make the cheesecake from now on. But this entire recipe is not for the faint of heart!!

My devil's food cake layers did not turn out like any devil's food cake I've ever seen or tasted. They were light brown in color and didn't taste like devil's food cake at all; almost no chocolate taste despite the four ounces the recipe calls for. The "dark fudge frosting" also wasn't very chocolate-tasting. The cheesecake turned out well and is a decent cheesecake; definitely the best part of this cake. I'm kinda pissed given how much work I put into this cake... very time consuming recipe and I didn't get what was advertised.
PS The cake I got was so far and away from what is advertised I went back through the directions and ingredient lists to make sure that I'd done everything I was told... I had so I have no idea how it could have turned out as abysmal as it did.

I've made this cheesecake on several occasions and the responses are wonderful. This cake was so TOTALLY DELICIOUS. I couldn't get enough of it.
