Thanks so much Mike, for sharing your family recipe with the world. It was the first time I had ever watched Throwdown and I couldn't wait to make your meatballs. My family and I think they are fantastic, and the perfect compliment is your sauce. I can't wait to show these off to friends!

After seeing the "THROW DOWN" w/ Bobby Flay, spaghetti & meatballs challenge, we just had to try it. We cooked the winner's recipe & loved it. Next we'll try Bobby's.

The meatball recipe was very easy. Yes, it is a bit mushy at first, but I added a bit more breadcrumbs and the meatballs turned out wonderful. Lots of flavor and the texture is how I like my meatballs. Not to meaty and light. Will make again.

The ingredients are perfect and I have no doubt that this is the exact recipe Mike uses. However, I must say that even though I followed the directions, the 4 eggs made the mixture VERY mushy. Adding breadcrumbs helps, but then you end up with unmeaty meatballs? I'll make this again but use 1.5lbs chuck and everything else the same. Flavor was great, again it was just the consistency

I decided to make a double batch on my first try. I used 2 LBS of ground chuck. So that's 8 eggs and a cup of milk! The mix was mush! I had to add a ton more breadcrumbs to make the meatballs formable. Other than that, the flavor was good. I didn't care for the sauce but the meatballs were good.

These meatballs were fabulous. I used ground beef and ground pork, I don't eat veal, but they were still wonderful. I used 5 eggs because I used more meat. For the meatballs, I grated the onions and garlic with a small hand grater that has really fine grates. I like that better because you don't have big chunks of onion but get a wonderful taste. I used all fresh herbs instead of dried (parsley and basiland I used that in the meatballs and the sauce. I also made the sauce like his on the show with the crushed tomatoes, but I also used stewed tomatoes (I cut them up a bit so they weren't too huge because I like my sauce a little chunky. I have to say, these were the best meatballs I have ever had. They were so light, flavorful and very moist and juicy. Like the Maronis, I have always baked my meatballs, I don't like the texture when they are pan fried. I also just bake them long enough to make sure they won't break apart, then I put them in my sauce. I think it makes them more tender. My entire family went on and on about how wonderful they were. Now whenever I make spaghetti and meatballs, I make sure I make a huge pot so I can give some to my mom and sister, and I make enough to freeze so we can have a quick dinner on those super busy nights, only it doesn't taste like a quick dinner. Really great on cold nights. I highly recommend this meatball recipe. Out of all the meatballs I have ever tried, made in someones home or in a restaurant, these are definitely the best.

I made a wonderful pasta dinner today for 12 members of my family. I used Grandma Maronis Meatballs recipe, and it was a huge hit with my family. I also substituted Panko breadcrumbs for the regular like another reviewer did. I will definitely make these a part of our family dinners in the future. Thanks to Mike Maroni and his grandma! There is nothing better than a family recipe handed down.

The sauce recipe was missing and of course this has everything to do with whether the spaghetti and meatball dish is good or outstanding. How 'bout giving this recipe up?

Perfect combination of flavors - even better with the sauce!
PS - The recipe for the sauce can be found under "Maroni Sauce"
