i surprised my husband after he had been gone all weekend by making him these pretzels. he loooooves soft pretzels, so i knew it would be a good surprise. and i was right!! he absolutley loved them! the were so soft and chewy and slightly crisp on the outside. i also made the cheese sauce, which was excellent. i followed the recipe exactly since it did win a showdown! bobby flay is the man! very easy and i highly recommend this recipe to anyone who wants to surprise a loved one!

i kept an eye on these while they were in the oven, so they didn't get burned. also, i made sure they were uniform thickness and not too think, in case they started to get dark. they got dark, but remember: pretezels are supposed to be dark, just not burned. so yummy that we ate the pretzel and almost forgot about the poblano dipping sauce!

Hi! I really like pretzels and so I tried these ones twice to make sure the first time I didn't just screw up, and both times they came out burnt! I would keep an eye on them and the inside of the pretzel wouldn't even be cooked all the way, even though the outsides were dark brown and becoming burnt. If anyone could help me so I could do this right it would be much appreciated. Sorry Bobby, because almost all the other reviews have been great, but mine just won't work!

I made 32 6" sticks, instead of 8 pretzels. When they came out of the oven I brushed them all with melted butter, and rolled half in cinnamon sugar, and left the other half plain. They were absolutely amazing! One of my top three things I have ever made, which is really saying something.

These pretzels were amazingly easy and seemed very difficult to screw up. We will be making them a lot more. Next time we have a get together, I plan on making these, but not folding them into pretzels, just making 6" sticks, brushing them with butter once cooked, and rolling them in cinnamon and sugar! Mmmm. This recipe seems like one that only gets better each time you make it. Enjoy!

I made these for a Superbowl party and they were the hit! Everyone loved them. They are pretty easy to make but don't under estimate the amount of time needed.

I couldn't find Muscovado sugar either so I tried with regular light brown sugar and they were delicious!

I've never tried to make any type of dough before and these still came out great! I highly recommend trying this recipe.

Be careful when you add the baking soda to the boiling water. I didn't realize it would bubble up as quickly as it did and it almost boiled over. Add it slowly!

You could try using the same ingredients as Bobby's recipes, but the hand-kneading technique used in this recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Buttery-Soft-Pretzels/Detail.aspx. You may have to adjust the amount of flour if the dough is too sticky when you begin the kneading process. I hope that helps. Good Luck!

I want to make these pretzels for my super bow party... My plan however was to make a batch before hand so I can of course taste them first, but unfortunately I don't have a stand mixer with a hook... Are there any substitutions that I could use? PLEASE HELP! I only have 3 days until kick off! lol
