when my friend told me about a fund raising dessert auction to raise money for a family that has enormous medical bills(faconi's anemia- they lost their daughter at age 14, now their 13 year old son is diagnosed, I immediatelely thought of this recipe as it looked so impressive. What a success! It turned out beautifully and fetched $260.00. (Last year's highest bid was $80.00.Wish I could let Ina know.

It would have been helpful if you had mentioned the size of mixing bowl needed! I have a 27 year old 4 quart KitchenAid stand mixer and the bowl was TOO SMALL!!! I ended up having to move to a large bowl and stir by hand. I have done wedding cakes for the past 26 years and this is the firt time the bowl was too small!!! But, the cake did turn out wel. I ended up making a two layer 8" heart cake for Valentine's Day and a 9" round two layer to give to someone else. Good cake!!!

This cake is DELICIOUS and so easy to make. While it takes some time to bake the 3 layers it's well worth it. Wow...thanks Ina....you've done it again! Fabulous!!!

It's intermediate alright. I have to carefully read the ingredients again before thinking of baking for my husband.
