I did not care for this recipe. We (5 adults are not hot food people so I did not add all the peppers. It was sweet. Separate they all tasted ok but together I did not care for it. I will not keep this recipe. I felt it was not worth spending all that time and money on the recipe.

Every part of this recipe compliments the other. Don't be concerned when tasting the elements separately because they all come together beautifully in the end. The slaw tastes very spicy hot on its own but provides a mild heat once added to the sandwich. If you like vinegar based BBQ sauces, this is the recipe for you.

After I saw this episode, I just had to try this recipe! We headed to TGI Friday's and imagine my disappointment when they informed me that they don't carry this dish. Well, at least the recipe is available for us to make at home because this is the best BBQ I've ever had. I made it in the crockpot and followed the instructions exactly, skimping on a little on the heat out of family preference. Don't cut out any of the sections, it's flavor profile is completed by all of the different parts. For example, the sweetness in pineapple and the heat in the slaw add additional flavor the BBQ sauce, It's affordable too! Other than the fresh produce and meat, most of the items are kept on-hand in a well stocked pantry. I used Guiness for the dark beer and Frank's Red Hot for the hot sauces. As for the peppers, I removed the seeds and ribs and finely chopped. It was a little time consuming, and left quite a mess to clean up, but I won't make BBQ any other way. Looking forward to the next time I make this!

Fixed the slaw recipe because I thought it was interesting. The recipe did not say how to fix the peppers. I put the jalapeno & fresno peppers in chopped with the seeds and that made it very spicy, even with 4 cups of cabbage. I am used to very hot chili's with habanero's, so it is not a wimp thing. It was hard to taste anything through the hot pepper flavors. I will try it again, but remove some or all of the seeds.

I made this after seeing the show and I was a little worried about the vinegar as my husband is not a great fan of vinegar. He LOVED it and later that night he was talking to a friend and telling him about our friend asked if there was vinegar in it and he said no. We loved the coleslaw and pineapple on top it was a nice balance of all the food sensations.

I made this following the recipe with the exception that I used my slow cooker. It was so good! My son in law kept sneaking pieces before I could get the bbq sauce in there! It is definitely a keeper and my daddy would have loved it. I too, lost him four years ago - ironically from cancer, a side effect of the medication he had to take after his heart transplant nine years before. This recipe rocks.

I was intrigued by this recipe when I watched the show. I had everything on hand so I decided to give it a try tonight. I followed the recipe exactly as written and I have to say the bbq sauce was nice and spicy but it had too much vinegar for my taste. I will try it again this weekend and start with 1/2 cup of the vinegar and go from there. I didn't make the coleslaw because I like mine with a ceamy dressing. Will definatley keep it in my recipe box.

Just made this last night and let me tell you, this is the best bbq ever. I made it actually as the recipe said, all but the dark beer seeing I thought I had some and didn't, just used what I had (labatts the flavors are amazing I can see why this recipe won. The only thing I might do the next time is use my slaw recipe, I prefer creamy verse vinegar slaw, but all else I will keep the same. I served this with Tyler's potato salad which I think did this dish justice.
