Tonnato Sauce

Ingredients
  • 1 (6 1/8-ounce) can solid Italian white tuna packed in water, drained
  • 1/2 cup mayonaise
  • 1/2 cup deglazing liquid
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, or to taste
  • 2 garlic cloves, mashed to a paste with 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch freshly grated lemon zest
  • Hot sauce, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon drained capers
Directions
  • In a blender or food processor blend tuna, mayonaise, deglazing liquid lemon juice, garlic paste, zest, and hot pepper sauce and stir in capers and salt to taste. Sauce may be made 2 days ahead and chilled, covered. Thin sauce to desired consistency with water.
