Bless her heart - I grew up in the deep South and if you have a family secret, it stays one.

Welllllll - after reading reviews, i decided do some research and guess what I found out?

Use Baking POWDER if you use Dutch Choc ($10 for 8oz and Baking SODA if you use Hershey's Cocoa or the like. Thus the varied results.

Also, 2 and 1/2 sticks of butter = 1 1/4 cups of butter.
Making for Valentines for my Husband and loved ones.

I followed the recipe exactly, I chilled in the fridge as described, baked a batch and they all spread together and were inedible, so I chilled overnight, same consistency, froze a couple hours, didn't help. They spread together again and didn't look appetizing at all. No idea what went wrong, I didn't change anything from the recipe. Pretty disappointed :/

these are wonderful and I had no problems. I wonder though if people who had too big of a oily mess realize that 2 1/2 sticks of butter, that's only 1 1/2 cups... 1 stick = 1/2 cup.... but i had no problems at all - and they are oh so yummy!!!

this is totally my new favourite choc cookie recipe - and the new secret weapon for impressing friends - super easy (made it with my 3yr old's help : and visually spectacular result with top notch taste and flavour. I did cut back to 100g of butter as one review suggests but i think anyone who complains of excess oil or messiness probably forgot the flour ( i nearly did. highly recommended recipe. would be easy to adapt toppings to suit occasions as well ( i put some choc chips on some, could do smarties, etc.

I followed exactly and it was too greasy, oily and flat for me. I regret having wasted the ingredients and having to clean up so many greasy pans. I wished I had read all the one-star reviews before I tried this recipe. I tried twice and failed both time. I wish I could meet at least one person who tried this recipe successfully.

I love the rich chocolate flavor.. At first I had a problem with it because it was too soft.. I realized that I missed one very important step.. I forgot the flour.. Haha.. but once I realized that mistake I made the most delicious chocolate cookies that I gave them as a christmas gift to my co-workers. They enjoyed them so much they asked when will I make them again..

You can not go wrong with these cookies. If you like brownies, you will LOVE these cookies. They are also really easy to make.

These are excellent cookies - I will use a little less butter next time and I think the shape will be better when baked. Overall though, these are the best tasting chocolate cookies I have ever made. These are now on my best cookie list!
