This looked like it had so much potential - followed directions the whole way (cost me almost 20 bucks but it seemed worth it and I got a "batch" of flat, oily chocolate stuff. Didn't taste or look even remotely good. Very very disappointed and not sure how anyone got even remotely acceptable results.

I absolutely love these cookies and I don't even care for chocolate all that much. I got this recipe from Martha Stewart's website over 10 years ago. She gave credit to her neice for the recipe. Anyway, they are fulproof for me. I don't understand why do people rate recipes so low when they make changes or don't follow the directions. That baffles me and it also affects the rating. I also hate when people rate a recipe a number one just to ask a question. At least go midway with a 3 for goodness sakes.

Fantastic recipe! Although I had to alter it a little to get the desired shape and texture.
I added one extra cup of flour and put it in the freezer for 35 minutes.
Then I dropped them on the cookie sheet by the tablespoon.
I also added a bag of mint chocolate chips.

These were a hit and everyone Loved them! They stayed a little gooey but oh so yummy!
They were great with a dollop of vanilla ice cream on them as well as by themselves.!
    GREAT RECIPE!

I thought the flattening out was just something I did wrong. They were indeed perfectly round, fat and pretty when I took them out of the oven, but within 10 mins flattened all the way around. What would cause that to happen?

I followed all the instructions on the cookies except I used Dark Hersheys cocoa, added two cups of chocolate chips to the mix, and didn't garnish them with sugar. Due to the dark cocoa it had a slight bitter taste that comes with dark chocolate but other than that they were decently tasty. They do however spread a lot. I took them out of the oven and they were beautiful and very fluffy but after cooling completely flattened out and ended up looking like cow dungs.
Overall it was a decent cookie. I am sure regular coca will make it alot better.

I loved these cookies and so did everyone who ate them. I did not have problems and the dough lasted in the refrigerator for weeks. I did not bother to roll them into balls, just placed the slices on the sheet, and dipped both sides into raw sugar. Yum!

I followed the recipe exactly as is, with regular cocoa, and they turned out perfectly! I did let them chill over night and rolled them into balls before baking. They have a chewy, brownie-like texture in the center and were a hit with everyone over the holidays. I have pictures of them posted on my blog at girlnextdoorgourmet.
