I was excited to make this dish, as it looked like good ol' comfort food. I'm a well-seasoned cook but I had one problem after another. I used a 2-quart casserole and luckily I had set a baking pan underneath it in case of boil-over, which it did. The chicken, soup and broth went together fine but when I mixed the crust ingredients, it was more like a drop biscuit dough rather than something I could pour or even spread. I had to "dollop" it on top and then try to spread it over. I put it in a 425 degree oven as specified but after only 25 minutes it was bubbling like crazy and the crust was starting to get too brown so I removed it from the oven. I allowed it to cool about 15 minutes before scooping some out. While the chicken and gravy tasted good, the crust was a disaster. The top was way too brown and what was underneath was like a flavorless paste. I can't believe I'm the only one whose dish didn't turn out great. Mine was truly "the perfect storm."

This was not only east, it was a family pleaser. No one said "Idon't like peas or I don't like onions". everyone likes chicken, gravy and the topping. I loved it and so did my family. We will be having this often. Thanks Trisha for making our dinner time a little more pleasent.

I was actually surprised how much I liked this given the simplicity of it. I especially loved the topping. Mine wasn't too soupy at all, but I let it sit for at least 10 minutes before digging in, like another person suggested. The butter beans from this show went really well with it. This would work great with Thanksgiving leftovers too!

I made this recipe tonight, and it was a big hit. I did add some frozen peas to the gravy. My husband gave it a big thumbs up. Delicious and easy. The golden crusty topping was delicious, too.

It was easy, delicious and all gone. It is so reminiscent of my mother's chicken pot pie, except a smidge better. After reading reviews of soupy gravy, I cooked up a bit of roux before adding stock and cream of chicken. That buttermilk really adds a zip to the crust.
