I have tried many of Trisha's recipes and my family has loved them all but this one was pretty bad. I hate to give her recipe a bad rating but I don't want anyone else to waste a pound of sausage. I tried this with less flour mix like some recommended but it was still bad.

I was hesitant to make these because of the reviews I read. I cut back on the flour/baking mix to only a 2 1/2 cups. I also added a little velveta cheese for more moisture. I served them with honey mustard and they were a hit.

I made these for a superbowl party and made a couple of changes based on the reviews and they came out great.
1. only used 2 cups of bisquick (and a hefty amount of salt and pepper or they come out bland
2. added 1 stick of chopped butter
3. cooked on a GLASS pan for 17 minutes then cooled on a baking rack with paper towels on it to soak up the extra grease

These were HORRIBLE. I too made a plate for superbowl...We cut the baking mix down to 2 cups like others suggested...The first batch was dry and tasteless. So the second batch we turned the heat down and only cooked for about 15min. The sausage was fully cooked and disgusting..dry, dry and no flavor even with good sausage..So to give them ANOTHER try, we tried dipping them in cheese sause and country gravey leftover from breakfast...To be honest...it ruined even the taste of the cheese and the gravy!!!!! I too could not believe nobody(EVEN THE DOGate only one and gagged...love your music trisha but this recipe is a big "walk away joe".....

These were gross! Dry, tasteless. This receipe needs more liquid. I made a big plate for my Superbowl party and they went in the garbage. You had to see the looks on peoples faces once they bit into them. Big disappointment.

I felt like these were dry and cooked at too high a temp i do feel like less cups of mix and more sausage would have been better

It was pretty good. I cut the flour mix to two cups and put in 16 ounces of cheese. I will make it again.

I agree with other reviews that these came out extremely dry. I followed the recipe but added a bit of extra cheese. They were almost inedible. I thought it might be because of our altitude but see others had the same problem. To salvage the rest of the dough, I added two eggs before I loaded up the second cookie sheet. It helped some, but still not something I'd make again.

I made these for the Superbowl and mine also turned out very dry also. I used the self-rising flour. I am wondering if I should have reduced the amt. of flour? I am going to use the left overs in my gravy for breakfast. I was expecting more of a moist consistency.

I used the same concept only a smaller recipe. I used half a pound of Jimmy Dean spicy sausage, 2/3 grated cheddar cheese, 3 tbsp cream cheese and just less than 3/4 cup self rising flour. They turned out moist, gooey cheesy and the spice from the sausage gives it just enough kick! Made about 15 1in balls. Just enough for 2 people.
