I used the same concept only a smaller recipe. I used half a pound of Jimmy Dean spicy sausage, 2/3 grated cheddar cheese, 3 tbsp cream cheese and just less than 3/4 cup self rising flour. They turned out moist, gooey cheesy and the spice from the sausage gives it just enough kick! Made about 15 1in balls. Just enough for 2 people.

These Sausage Hors d'Oeuvres looked so promising when Trisha made them on her show, but when I made them according to the recipe they turned out HORRIBLE!!!! They were terribly dry and tasted like flour. Disgusting!

I read the other reviewers comments about the balls coming out dry/crumbly prior to making mine, so I added 2 eggs to the mixture. Worked great! They are nice and moist, no crumbliness at all! Big hit!

I used 2 cups of Bisquick, 2 cups of cheddar and used my hand mixer and these turned out well. Using the mixer is key, I've made these before moving by hand and they turned out dry and crumbly. I would suggest using ALMOST 2 cups of the Bisquick and cheddar, unless you have a little more sausage. Overall, good recipe.

When I saw Trisha make these on her show they looked delicious. I just made them for a Super Bowl party & they tasted like flour. Nothing like i expected. My husband said he liked them but I think he didn't want to hurt my feelings. The recipe needs to be checked & updated in the website. All the other recipes I have made of Trisha's have been delicious except this one.

I wish I had read the reviews first, I followed the recipe exactly and the cheese balls came out very dry. I won't be trying this recipe again. I think the climate has alot to do with the moistness of this recipe,

In the South this is exactly the way we make sausage balls. She DID use 3 cups of biscuit mix on the show. A little more cheese does not hurt the recipe at all.

The recipe on the website is incorrect because on the show she used only 2 cups of baking mix. I used this recipe on the site because I thought maybe it was a correction on the show and it was way to dry and so much waste of money for the mistake. They need to correct the recipe on the site. Use only 2 cups of baking mix.

I make these but use different amounts of ingredients. 16 oz of shredded cheese, plus 1/2 cup parmesan (green can, 1/4 cup of milk, and roll them into smaller balls. And a great dipping sauce is 1 cup of apricot & pineapple preserves (if you can't find the combined preserves, use 1/2 cup of each flavor instead, 1/2 cup shriracha sauce, mix and microwave until hot. Also bake at 350 not 375.

I agree with some of the other reviews, kinda dry. I will use less bisquick next time and more cheese. I also put in a small can of diced green chilis, to spice it up a bit and add a little moisture, chopped onions would be good too, will try that next time. Needs a dipping sauce of some kind.
