I think the problem most people are having is that they're slow cooker On low is a lot hotter than the one she used. Luckily I read the reviews before I made it. We turned our cooker on the warm setting and let it sit for three hours. They turned out perfect and are very yummy. I changed the recipe by adding half a package of dark chocolate Chips

I found an almost identical recipe posted online. In this recipe there were very explicit notes about the slow cooker. Apparently newer slow cookers operate at higher temperatures than their older counterparts. The recipe specifically stated to not use a slow cooker that was greater than 275 watts. I have an old 20+ year old slow cooker and set on low it worked perfectly. All of the ingredients melted and the nuts did not burn. The key to this recipe is the slow cooker itself and it is unfortunate that this was not addressed on the show or in the recipe as I feel badly for all of those who did not have good results. I did not use the cupcake liners. I used large cookie sheets lined with parchment (wax paper would work too and simply used my teaspoon size cookie dropper to make the candy. This seemed much easier than dealing with all of the liners and it looks more authentic. My husband absolutely loved these and wants me to make these again next year.

Saw Trisha make this on her show and was going to make this up to go as part of gift baskets for the neighbors, doctors office, etc. I called seven stores before I finally found one that had the almond bark. I followed the directions and this recipe was a costly failure. The peanuts were $6.99 (on sale, the German's chocolate was $3.99 (on sale, almond bark was $5.98 and the semi-sweet chips were $3.00 (on sale. On the show, Trisha said not to be worried about the peanuts burning, they were just roasting. The peanuts WERE burnt. I had to throw the whole batch out. I may try again, not for gifts this year, though. I may allow it to cook for a lesser amount of time, possibly 45 minutes to check if the almond bark and chocolate are melted enough to stir.

Obviously, the problem is the difference in temperatures if the crockpots. I did not have a problem with the ingredients burning. I have a Hamilton Beach crockpot with settings of warm, medium, and high. I used the medium setting and layered the ingredients as instructed, and when I peeked added 2hr 40 min, it was melted. I stirred it and used bon bon cups (small, made by Wilton, foil on the outside in gold, red, and green - very festive. I just put the cups on paper plates and filled them, using an iced tea spoon because of the long handle and smaller spoon width. It worked out perfectly. I will make them again, but with a few changes. This was a bit too sweet; our family prefers dark chocolate to milk. I'm going to use more semisweet and unsweetened chocolate. Also, I'm going take a tip from Ina Garten and will add some instant espresso powder to the mixture. It really does enhance the flavor of chocolate.

After 3 hours the peanuts and some of the sides were completely burnt :( I didn't think to check it because on the show Tricia specifically said something about smelling burning peanuts and just to ignore. I salvaged some but would definitely adjust the recipe to say cook on low for 1 or 1 and 1/2 hours max.

I used a big pot in low for two hours and did good. No burned peanuts. I used white chocolate instead of almond bark and added almond flavor to the mix.

Super easy and super yummy! I took note of the other reviews and made some adjustments. I made a half recipe: 1 jar dry roasted peanuts (14oz, 2 squares of Bakers Chocolate, 1/2 bag of milk chocolate chips, and 1 package White Almond bark. Put on Low for 1 1/2 hours, then switched to warm for about 30 minutes. No burning and very creamy. I have a basic Rival crock pot. Used mini cupcake liners, using my Pampered Chef scoop to fill with ease, and it made about 58. Will definately make again!!
