I am so disappointed. I watched the video and did exactly as instructed with very expensive ingredients. My peanuts burned and ruined the whole thing. Can anyone tell me what went wrong?

I made this last Friday....i am not a baker or even like chocolate but had family coming in and they had loved the crack Trisha had made so I tossed it all in the crock pot on low but only bought one package of the almond bark and three hours later it was all melty....i then spooned the mix into cup cake liners and set in the fridge......everyone loved it....i think if i used two packages of almond bark it would be too sweet.....i am gonna make it again but use almonds instead of peanuts and then mix in coconut and make almonds joys.

I borrowed some tips from reviewers and topped some of mine with coarse salt. Some I even mixed in a little cayenne pepper with the salt. I mean very little, you don't want to fry tongues. I read the reviews and watched my crockpot and checked for the smell of burning peanuts. Mine is old, so low means LOW, and it took the full three hours. I put them into mini-muffin papers too, based on reviews. Full size ones would be an awful lot of candy. Came out very nicely, I would definitely do this for an event. As it is, there is so much that it's going to work with my husband tomorrow, enough for his department and the whole staff on the other floor! It's about 80 pieces I believe!

This recipe looked so easy, we just had to try it! She said on her show, not to worry, the peanuts would not burn....well, they didn't just burn, they were burnt to a CRISP! Ruining the whole recipe, which costs $20 in ingredients! I will NOT be trying this again. Disappointed.

OMG, These were fantastic!! I am sorry to hear all of the bad reviews.I found the Almond Bark at Walmart, if that helps. I watched this show 2 times and did it to the recipe and show. I made them the Sunday before Easter, they stayed perfect for a week. There were none left and my whole family (even the picky Aunts were asking for more. I have an older crock pot and it worked very well, nothing burned. Mine were a big hit and I would not change a thing. My family asked if I would make them for every Sunday Dinner, we have dinner every Sunday together!!! Thanks again Trisha, these were a big hit. Kathy from Connecticut

Finding Almond bark was very impossible. I used some white candy-mold chocolate (the kind you find at the craft store for making molded candy and some chopped white chocolate. I used part spanish peanuts and unsalted peanuts. I don't have a large slow cooker, so I decrease recipe a little. It was ready in under two hours, I just kept a close eye on it. I can see how it would burn easily. Bringing it to family gathering today, but the one I tasted was awesome!

Don't let negative reviews keep you from this recipe. I will say, if you have a newer crockpot they do heat hotter than the older versions. My Riv@l 6qt crockpot white oval glass lid I purchased two years ago, is one of the pots that are hotter. After many meals in it I have figured this out. So this recipe I followed exactly except for the cooking time. 1 hour on low is all it took. I took off the lid, White Chocolate blocks on top still in square form, chips underneath still looked like chips, I tentively using my wooden spoon dug in and realized it was melted enough to stir up, as I stirred it continued to melt and combine very quickly so I removed the crock from the heating pot and continued to stir. Within a few minutes of stirring was perfect consistancy. These are the easiest best chocolate candies I've ever made. Now I know it will turn out, I'm going to try marshmellows added while stirring up the hot chocolate or do raisins. Yum! Thanks Trisha!

I saw this recipe on Trisha's Southern Kitchen TV show. Up to this point I have not had a chance to make any of her recipes. I decided to invest in her cookbook. I purchased her cookbook Home Cooking With Trisha Yearwood.
I was so excited to make this recipe for Easter treats to give to friends and family.
I am a seasoned cook and baker. I followed the recipe exactly. My crockpot is only six months old and fit all of the requirements.
I too ended up with a mess. Thankfully I was sitting in the next room while waiting for the candy to be ready for the final step. The nuts were scorched and everything had to be thrown out.
It was so wasteful! I was unable to salvage any of the ingredients.
I will return the cookbook to the store as I don't have confidence in her recipes. Unfortunately I will not continue to watch her show.
