When I lived in McCormick, SC my friend's mom would make this, along with her homemade biscuits. We would place a spoon underneath our plate to keep the chocolate gravy at the bottom of the plate. Brings back so many wonderful memories. I am going to make this on Christmas morning at my nieces. Thanks for sharing.

Trisha, I saw this on TV promo and ran to the computer to look it up on the website. I have so many fond memories of my mom making this for me and my friends. When we had sleepovers my friends would alway make me promise to ask my mom to make this. We called this "SOP"
and still to this day! My parents were from Alabama and we love to share and cook "country"
Love your show!! Keep cooking :

It brought back memories of visiting my grandma in Georgia when I was young. Thanks it was just as I remembered.

This was AMAZING!! My Grandmas used to make this for me when I would stay with her as a child. Now I can make it for my daughter.

This gravy is fabulous! Just how I imagined the river of chocolate tasted in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Made this morning and served over homemade biscuits! Delicious! My husband said it was just like the chocolate gravy he ate growing up. Could easily be dessert!

I love chocolate gravy. My Mom fed it to us back in the 60's. She did not use flour. She put 1 tsp of vanilla after it had boiled for about 5 minutes. Then boil it some more. It will not get as thick without the flour. But the more you boil it, the thicker it gets. There is nothing better over a hot biscuit. I have turned my entire office into chocolate gravy lovers.

My 12 year old son and I made this for our buttermilk biscuits this morning and it was fabulous! We were out of regular milk so we substituted plain soymilk for the regular milk in the recipe. It turned out just as thick and rich and delicious.
