The only changes i made was, bacon instead of pancetta, and a tiny bit of white wine instead of red, and the rest stock. I dunno, it wasn't BAD, but it didn't taste like lasagna at all, some people in the reviews said it reminded them of hamburger helper, i didn't see how that was possible before, but I have to agree now. Everyone ate it, but no one raved about it, I don't think I'll make it again.

I don't know if I did something wrong but I checked like five times and I did everything like it said..for some reason my sauces were very runny and did not thicken up at all and the meat sauce did not taste very good. I tried to like it but I really didn't. My family said they liked it but I don't know if they were telling the truth.

This is a great meal to cozy up to! I couldn't find pancetta at my local grocer so I used bacon. I've also used a combination of Italian pork sausage with the beef as well and it added a nice flavor. I also finely chop half of a garlic clove for the white sauce and it really perfects this dish!

while I didn't have any pancetta this was still an excellent meal. I don't care for lasagna and thought I would try this out being as though alot of the reviews said it was nothing like one. And I loved it!!!!

I really loved this recipe, I have cooked it two times and my husband loves it, today I saw it on Food Network again and will probably do it this week. I recommend this dish 100%, you really should try it. Thanks Rachael.

My family loved it, but I did make a half recipe more of the meat and white sauce.
Also after I mixed in the white sauce I mixed in the meat sauce and served it. This is a keeper.

Made this tonight for the first time and my family and I really enjoyed it....I have a picky 3 year old and he ate a whole bowl of it. Loved the flavor that the freshly grated nutmeg gave the white sauce. And the allspice was great in the red sauce! Will be making this one again!

I'm vegetarian, but my husband is an avid meat-eater so I rarely make casserole style meals since you can't really have separate meat/veg sections, so this was a great substitute. It allowed me to cook a separate saucepan of vegetarian sauce and he could still enjoy the meaty lasagna flavors. Like some other people I added a bit more tomato paste to make the meat sauce richer and probably simmered the sauces a bit longer to reduce the stock more. For the veggie alternative I basically just omitted the meat (keeping the carrots, onions garlic etc the same and used veg stock instead of beef and got a delicious, rich veggie tomato sauce. My hubby also praises this as a wonderful meat to take in for lunch!

i made this the other night and it was absolutely wonderful. as usual, i made too much pasta for the meat sauce, but it was so good on its own that it didn't go to waste. the meat sauce and the pasta sauce are great and i can't wait to experiment by mixing-and-matching them with other recipes...after all, that's what makes cooking fun!

This doesn't taste like my lasagna at all, but it had a wonderful rich and sophisticated flavor for the small amount of work it was. I like the presentation too. I did add 2 cut up roma tomatoes to the meat sauce. I liked having it just be a meat sauce instead of a more tomatoey sauce for a change, but it is less lasagna-like that way. Also would need more cheese and stuff to be like Lasagna for me. Still, all dish naming aside, a flavorful sauce and nice combo. If yours is too bland it might just need more salt and pepper? I did make this ahead, so could have easily used double the amount of white sauce (noodles really soaked it up.
