Like many Tyler recipes on this site, Tyler made it right on TV but whoever types the recipes up on this site is sloppy and messed it up. Use 1/2 the milk it calls for and it will be OK.

What a disappointment that the recipe is incorrect! I only noticed the reviews after cooking the rice so I quickly cooked another batch. Even after cooking more rice there was too much milk and it took 45 minutes to get the right consistency. It was still delicious but it would be nice if they published the correct recipe.

The rating of "awful" is only because the recipe is incorrect. I wasted my time and money by following the recipe without reading the reviews. Who is responsible for this? I'm not a big fan of the kitchen as it is...and this just made me want out of the kitchen even more. The taste of this recipe is great; but I wasn't looking for "sweet rice soup"!!! I'm so upset....someone needs to review these recipes for accuracy before posting!

I made the mistake of not reading the reviews first! Oops.......I already poured in all the milk before realizing something was wrong. So.......I just added another cup to 1/2 cups of rice directly in the milk and kept cooking. Turned out great!

Don't throw out your mistake! Just fix it for a yummy pudding.

My college-bound daughter had one last request before heading back to school, she wanted me to make rice pudding. This recipe really hit a homerun with her. With adding only 1 quart of milk and cooking it for 25 minutes, it was smooth and creamy and just what she wanted. I will make this for her every time she comes home from school.

It always amuses me when reviewers send messages to on air personalities and food network staff via the recipe review section. NO, they don't read the reviews. They DO read the viewer comment forms you can submit on this website.

First of all, the end result, the rice pudding, was excellent. It's unfortunate, though, that we need to read the reviews to discover errors in the quantities. It's a fairly sloppy attitude that seems a bit pervasive in the recipes here. I have made a handful of Tyler Florence's offerings from this site, and it seems like each one needed some repair/correction of quantities along the way.
Someone, hopefully Tyler himself, should proof these things for correctness. The investment both in time and ingredients is too big to have these kinds of problems. If I could figure out who to write to at FN, I would.

First of all, I had cut the recipe in half.

It wasn't very long after I poured the milk mixture into the plumped rice I realized that something was amiss. (Why does the milk mixture need to be in a sauce pan? I used a mixing bowl.

I let it simmer for a while, then decided that I had better add more rice if I expected it to thicken up, so I just dumped a couple of handsful (maybe another 1/2 cup or so for the half-recipe into the simmering milk mixture and put the lid back on. I let it low simmer for maybe 20 minutes then turned off the stove. Half hour later the rice was perfect and I stirred in the zest. Great dessert in the end, but the directions were screwed up. (Again.

I watched this show last night with my boyfriend and we decided to make it right away. I went on food network to find to exact recipe and I'm SO GLAD I read the reviews first! There are plenty of people who have already given the correct measurements so I won't do it again. The only difference is I added about 3/4 cup of sugar and 1 1/2 t. vanilla extract instead of the vanilla bean. Also, you have to cook it A LOT longer than 10 minutes! I cooked mine for at least 30. But the result is great! It was really flavorful and everyone loved it. Give this one a try!

i only use most recipe's as a guideline, i adjust to my taste or what ingredients i have on hand. there is that old rumor most chefs leave out one ingredient.
