I also realized (too late that something was wrong, when the recipe called for 2 quarts of milk, but I trusted you anyway. Here is what I finally did, as opposed to throwing it out. I added 3 beaten eggs (tempered to the cooked pudding, and baked it (in 2 casseroles for 1 hr. in a 325 degree oven. I will try again, with the new neasurements, but please change the amounts listed, if you can!
The original rice soup did taste great, but the final one with the eggs, was more like a custard, of course.

I just watched the show, and he says "about a quart of milk" at least three times! (Clearly NOT the 2 Quarts called for in the printed recipe. Michelle (other reviewer is correct in her corrections, only he said 1 and a half cups of water to 1 1/4 cups of rice. Delicious made to his specs!

I had DVR?d this episode, so I watched it twice to try to get the recipe right. Tyler actually starts with 1 ? cups of water brought to a boil in a large saucepan, he adds 1 ? cups Arborio rice and cooks just until the rice starts to absorb the liquid, starts to swell. He then added to the saucepan with the rice, ? cup of sugar, a sprinkle of cinnamon, about 1 quart of whole milk, and 1 vanilla bean (split & scraped, adding both the scraped seeds and the remaining bean, also mentioning that vanilla extract may be substituted for the vanilla bean. After it was cooked (he did not discuss temperatures or timing, he added a few scrapes on a microplane of fresh orange peel. Notes: He did not use any butter or salt, and he added crushed Amaretto cookies and dried cranberries on top (as shown in the photo.

I made the pudding today, trying to follow the video. It turned out good, although I started to add the ? teaspoon of cinnamon instead of the sprinkle and stopped myself when I noticed that it just looked like way too much cinnamon (I ended up with about ? tsp or so in the pudding. I did not have a vanilla bean, so I used vanilla extract. He did not say how much extract to use, so I started with ? teaspoon, and added another ? tsp later, which ended up with a little more vanilla flavor that I probably would have preferred. I also reported the errors to the Food Network, so hopefully they will correct the recipe soon!

I made two adjustments: (1 one quart of milk or less; (2 1/2 cup of sugar. This adds plenty of sweetness without being overwhelming.

If you're like me you dumped the 2 quarts of milk in before you read the reviews. Fortunately the milk was still cold and the sugar hadn't mixed in yet. So I scooped as much sugar out as needed. I left about 2/3 a cup. Then I added 1 more cup of cooked arborio rice. You will just need to cook it at a simmer for a lot longer! Hope you're not in a rush....at least you won't waste your ingredients.

I watched the show and thought this would be a great and easy recipe, however the recipe is not at all how he made it on his show. They should not be allowed to do that, but not sure who to report it to. He also varied on the other recipes from that same show, not quite as severe, but enough that I will not watch or download his recipes. If you want to know how to really make this pudding, look at Gale Gands. Her recipe is how he made it on the show and it turned out wonderful. Come on Food Network, lets have some truth in advertising.

I did everything the recipe said but once I dumped in the 2qt I knew something was wrong. Then I read the reviews. Now I took 4 cups of milk out and added some more rice. Now I am just waiting to see if my soup will thicken up.

But I just watched the show and Tyler said a cup and a half of milk and a cup and a quarter of rice--A little less rice than milk!

What a waste of time: I thought 2 qts. of milk was too much but TYLER said so.
My corrections are: 2 Qts milk, 1 POUND rice. cut sugar to 1/2 cup. I also DID NOT pre-cook the rice. It took alot longer to cook, and it made a lot of rice pudding, but the consistency was great! Unfortunately this is the FOURTH recipe from Tylers Ultimate series that just DID NOT WORK!!!
