This chili is definitely worth the extra time. As someone who has only used ground beef in chili, the chunky beef and dark chocolate was a real eye-opener. I also added a bay leaf because I like that flavor.

Thanks for an excellent rich, high flavor chili that is not the same old same. Easy to make, delicious to eat.
Love it. Family says "make again"!

I left out one can of the chiptle peppers and the jalapeno and used 4 tbls of basic chili powder in place of the Ancho Chili Powder. The chili was real hot. I'm a Mexican who loves spicy foods, but this one was too hot to handle!

This chili was a huge hit in my house. My husband absolutely loved it! I made this one day ahead, except for the addition of the chocolate, which I added per instructions after reheating. The flavors really mellowed overnight and made for a wonderful chili. I served tortilla chips, which I think complemented the flavors much better than soda crackers. Just add cold weather and football and you're all set!

Putting beans, especially canned beans, in chili is a felony in Texas. My recomendation is to cook a good pot of beans and serve them on the side along with cornbread.

The end result of this mess was a very photogenic pile of repugnant, grotesquely flavored stew.

And yes, I did not deviate one whit from the stated recipe and am a capable cook.

Tried this recipe for the first time this past weekend. Turned out great! Big hit at the cook-out. Another winner from Tyler!

Excellent chili! If you are serving this to company, make sure to double OR triple the recipe, so U can have leftovers. It freezes well.
    Tyler's chili is great with 2 - 3
bottles of beer added to it!
I love to serve chili in my cornbread
'bowls'. If U don't like cornbread, serve in homemade bread 'bowls'.

Good recipe, but alittle too strong & spicy for my children. Next time will leave out the chiptole peppers as they were too spicy and made the chili alittle too "smoky" flavored.
