these were the best scones I've ever had. The butter was fun to make, and tastes wonderful, and I'm not a real honey fan. I forgot the Tyler mixed the berries in the flower, then added the buttermilk. The berries didn't hold up mixing them last. I'm making them again today and will use the shows method. the butter is yummy on toasted bagels too.

I whipped these up in about a half hour (start to finish. Very simple to make, but I just have a few changes/comments:

I would reduce the amount of berries to 1 c. because mine were bursting with berry juice, and that's not my preference. I also prefer blueberries only, but that's just me.

I mixed the berries with the dry ingredients and then added the buttermilk (like Tyler did on the show. It worked well, but I had a hard time getting the mixture to come together enough to drop onto the cookie sheet... doesn't matter, it tasted great after it baked!

Overall, this is an easy way to make impressive and buttery scones from scratch and I look forward to using this as a base with other fruits or even savory ingredients. I served mine with cinnamon honey butter (easier to make.

I saw Tyler make these on the show yesterday and had to try them. They were really, really good and much more moist than other scones I've had. I only used blueberries, though, because my husband doesn't like raspberries or blackberries. Also, I followed how Tyler made them on the show and mixed the berries in before the buttermilk. Just a few words of caution, though: making the butter in the food processor resulted in a bit of a mess for me. The liquid came out in the gap between the bowl and the lid and out through the center hole in the bowl. Other than that, it was really easy to make and tasted wonderful. Next time, I'll put my food processor on a cookie sheet to contain the mess or use my stand mixer.

I tried the recipe after the show. I have tried a few different recipes, but they were nothing to be proud of...these definitely are. I didn't have any fresh berries so I used dried cranberries and 3 TBS orange zest. Wow! I didn't have any left this morning. I made them today using fresh blueberries...just as good! I now have a can't miss scone recipe. Thank you Tyler.

These scones are great! I didn't have a food processor, so I whipped the cream/honey/orange zest mixture in my stand mixer with a whip attachment at high speed. The results were the same. I was surprised at how easy the butter came together out of the cream. If you are not a big fan of honey, I would skip this part and use regular buttermilk. However, if you are like me and love it, you will think this stuff is heavenly. About the berries... my raspberries were far to delicate to withstand any mixing, no matter how gentle. I think blueberries hold up the best. The berry combination is a wonderful taste, but I have pink spots through out my scones. Oh well. Thanks for this recipe Tyler. You rock.

I have a favorite scones recipe that I have used for years, and this is as good if not better. I tried this recipe because I wanted to use up some buttermilk, and my family loved the slight taste difference the buttermilk offered. I've made this with both fresh berries as called for and with frozen blueberries that I had on hand. Excellent both ways. It is good technique to mix the berries with the dry ingredients before adding the buttermilk, but the end result taste won't be impacted either way. Try sprinkling tubinado sugar instead of plain sugar on top after brushing with buttermilk. Thanks, Tyler!

I saw the episode Tyler prepared the scones in and decided it looked worthy to try. After printing the recipe I noticed a discrepancy in the preparation. Tyler added the mixed berries BEFORE adding the buttermilk. The recipe says to add the berries after the buttermilk. Perhaps it is not a big deal but, I recall him saying this suspended the berries in the flour mixture and kept them from tearing apart when the liquid went in. Makes sense. Anyway, I will test the recipe shortly and post my full review.
