This is amazing. Although I did make a few adjustments. I used a yellow cake mix for my cake because I already had it on hand and I am on a budget. I used 2 lbs of strawberries and 1 pint blueberries, no raspberries. I used only 2 cups whipping cream, not the 4 this recipe calls for. I kept the 1 tbsp sugar though but did cut the vanilla in half. Since I made only half the whipped cream, I only used half the lemon curd. I'm glad I did. It still gave a strong lemon flavor but not overly tart. If you've never made homemade whipped cream, be careful not to overwhip it. It will turn to butter. The nice thing about trifles is, you can add/delete parts of the dish and it will always be amazing.

We've used lots of trifle recipes and this was one of the best. Not as ooey-sweet as some and we appreciate the restraint.

But the amount of cream called for seems to be a print error. Same recipe from Tyler's cookbook uses 1 CUP of cream, not 1 QUART. Knowing that discrepancy, you can proceed as seems best for you. We chose 1C and it seemed right for consistency, quantity and lemon flavor with curd added in.

Trifle is not only a delicious dessert, it is a pretty one too. If you want to make this in individual size servings instead of a footed trifle bowl, layer the ingredients in several good sized martini glasses to set one in front of each guest. It will draw the same "ahhhhh..." reactions as the lovely big trifle does.

Also, a tip that the Ultimate Eggplant and Sausage dish that was included in the same episode as the trifle is a winner recipe. See the link at the top of this FNC page and check that recipe out too. Your tastebuds and tummy will thank you!

Excellent. I made this for a retirement party at work and it all went.
One thing I did different was the lemon curd at $9 a jar, I made mine and it had more flavor than the jarred. Surprising how simple it is to make.

This was very good. Having read other reviews, I cut the heavy cream back to a pint instead of a quart and it was the right amount. To punch up the lemon flavor I added the zest of the lemon to the cream & lemon curd mixture. Perfect!

I made this last Christmas eve and it was so appropriate for the occasion. This dessert was not rich so I had two servings. I followed the suggestion of using 1 pint instead of 1 quart. Perfect! Love the lemon curd and the berries. Yum!
