I added about a teaspoon of lemon zest to the scones. After mixing I patted it into an 8 inch cake pan then turned out on a lightly floured board. You will end up with a perfectly round circle that can be cut easily into triangles with a pizza cutter. Half the recipe for the glaze was enough. Yum!

Yum-o. I made this with half n' half instead of cream as well as Smart Balance 50/50 butter, and they are still super good. I think the glaze would have worked out better if it had cooled a bit first to thicken.

Wow. I wasn't expecting these to be as amazing as they were. I added a bit more heavy cream and also some lemon zest to the batter. And the icing was perfectly made in the microwave, with only half the lemon juice the recipe called for. I also didn't have a problem with the frozen blueberries I used.

Very delicious! I can only find frozen blueberries, so I used them anyway... the dough turned out a bit soggy so I shaped it lightly with my hands and the scone turned out tasty in spite of it all.

Very good scones! The glaze was delicious BUT made way too much. You could easily cut glaze recipe in half, unless you want extra for something else. The glaze was very thin and sunk into the scones instead of adhering to the surface, like I would have rather had.

My kids love these scones. A few changes: I grate my cold butter with large cheese grater and get the right crumbly dry texture; sometimes have to add a smidge more cream; and I substitute blueberries for items my kids like. I usually divide the dry ingredients in half and make some with blueberries and some with butterscotch or chocolate chips. Kids also liked white chocolate chips and craisins as an add in. They are so fluffy and delicious warm out of the oven!

I had the perfect vision of eating these early in the morning with my chai tea : I was slightly disappointed with the lack of lemon flavor. With the fitst bite I took I WISHED I had went with my instincts & added lemon zest to the batter :( The glaze is great but you still miss it in the scone.
I will make these again but with some additional lemon & use half whole wheat flour to make them more filling.

The glaze was a nice touch instead of traditional marmalade. Would make in the future. I also had to add more heavy cream to the mixture as it was too dry to form dough.

These are really delicious. They have the perfect amount of sweetness. When I was mixing the ingredients together, the mixture was dry. I had to add more heavy cream to it. But it came out great!

These are great and so easy to make. Have made them twice now. MUST add blueberries before the cream so flour mixture coats the berries and prevents them from bleeding. Mixing berries in with hand vs spoon also helps keep berries intact. DID have to add a bit more cream (1/8 - 1/4 of a cup to get the dough right consistency. Easy to press out in a log to cut. I did not bother with the double boiler for the glaze. Just mix lemon juice and powdered sugar to your desired consistency ... whether you want them lightly glazed or more like icing. I just drizzled a bit of glaze over mine ... didn't coat them. Delicious. I even froze some iced and zapped them on low in microwave to defrost and they were still light, flaky and delicious.
