LOVE LOVE LOVE these scones!!!! only problem is I can't get the glaze to thicken up. What am I doing wrong???? Although my glaze turns out thin, still DELICIOUS!!! :

These are my favorite scones EVER! They are quick to make and have simple ingredients. I've memorized the recipe because I make them so much. I sometimes do have to add a little extra cream, it might be because of the altitude. If you like your scones softer I like to add a little more butter. The recipe makes too much glaze in my opinion so I do cut it in half. I always get good, sweet lemons so my glaze doesnt come out tart and sour. Overall I love this recipe, great for bringing a batch to work, it really peps up the nurses.

This was the first time I have ever made scones and it was so easy! I did use a rolling pen to roll out the scones. I found the recipe made more than 8 scones- about 16 actually and they were still an inch or more thick but maybe closer to the size of a large cookie which I preferred. I also found I didn't need so much glaze as the recipe makes. Could cut it in half and have enough glaze to cover all of the scones.

These are just wonderful, flakey, and delicious. I did add the berries to the dry ingredients and very gently folded in the cream. I think the trick is to not overhandle the dough. I did not use the lemon glaze. they were great alone.

great recipe i used my fingers to cut in the butter and if you put the blueberries in the freezer before you fold them in they will not mash or bleed

WOW. xojt must have done something very wrong. These are the best scones.Very traditional! I have made them several times and have adapted them several ways depending on the season.tip-- toss your fruit with 1Tbls. flour and fold into dry ingredients before adding in cream or dough is quite stiff. Turn out dough and pat into rectangle while shaggy, do not overmix. This morning I made my favorite adaptation.substitute 1 cup fresh chopped strawberries tossed with 1/2 Tbl additional sugar, 1/4tsp cinnamon for the blue beries..Half recipe of glaze with touch of cinnamon..DELICIOUS!!!!!! also try blueberry with lemon zest and my husbands favorite strawberry, rhubarb with orange zest with 1 Tbls extra sugar and substitute orange juice for the lemon juice in the glaz and go sparingly yummy

I love scones, but these did not come out like I was hoping they would. I know that scones characteristically don't have that strong of a taste, but this scone (without glaze lacked any flavor at all. The only time that I was able to taste anything was when I bit down on a blueberry that, after the warm, initial, out-of-the-oven state, tasted gross and soggy. Not only was the actual scone unsatisfactory, so was the glaze. It was unexpectedly runny and extremely sour/tart from the lemon juice. Overall, I would not make this recipe if I were you. There are plenty of better scone recipes out there to try instead.

Really good. Three things I would do differently. First, next time I will fold in the blueberries to the dry mix before adding the cream. Otherwise, the batter is very tight and it's difficult to incorporate the berries. Next, I would grease the pan to prevent sticking. Last, I'd cut the glaze recipe in half -- I had a lot more than I needed. Delicious!

GREAT. Nice and buttery and delicious. I had to add more cream though to form the dough..about a 1/4 cup. I used half sour cream-half plain yogurt since I didn't have any heavy cream. 2 Tbs of sugar not enough for me. I'm gonna add 4 next time I'm gonna make these. Probably tomorrow.
