needed a good recipe to utiize my gazillion peaches ready fior picking. I usually look forward to my favorite peach pie but oven problems this year made that impossible. I made this comletely on the stove top in my giant 12" skillet brought it to a family bbq and now my sisters have come over to pick all my peaches and get the recipe. Think it was maybe too good.

The first time I made this cobbler recipe I followed it to the letter and it turned out too doughy or too much cake. I made it last night used a 12" skillet, used 8-10 cups of peaches, 1/3 cup of bourbon, substituted with brown sugar, 1/4 heavy cream and did not use all the dough, (had about a cup of dough left over. Everything else was the same. Cooked for about 42 minutes. It came out of the oven at 8:00pm and at 9:30pm I was cleaning the pan. It was very good but I personally prefer a flakey crust over the cake type. I will make it again because it was easy.

My husband and I loved this. He like things that are sweet, but not too sweet...this was it! I used spiced rum instead of the namesake bourbon only cause thats what I had on hand. It was great. Next time I might try with Jack Daniels. I used the 3/4 cup heavy cream, but I believe 1/2 of a cup or a little less would still suffice (and help eliminate a few calories.

    This is SO good!
If I didn't know what was in it, would eat lots more.
Best if shared with a large number and it's all gone.
Might try with some blueberries in it

I used blueberries instead of peaches and a splash of vanilla instead of the bourbon. My family loved it. The taste and texture of the cobbler was perfect.

I didn't want to get another pan dirty, so I added the butter to the blueberries and microwaved the fruit and butter for 3 minutes and then dumped it into the baking dish.

The only downside was that it smelled like Thanksgiving instead of the 4th of July.

I am from the South and this cobbler rivals some of the best cobblers I've had. I have made this for my friends and family and everyone enjoys it. Serve with ice cream or drizzle it with cream and it is delicious.

Tried this last Saturday for a picnic lunch, after reading the great reviews.
I say...who else but a "Southern Boy" to trust for a Peach Cobbler (with a twist...absolutely delicious!!
I'd experimented this summer with Peach Blueberry pies, crisps etc...but was tiring of making them and wanted to try a cobbler, which I'd never made or eaten before. This was perfection!
First..my home smelled like those candles people buy to "smell homey"...and like another reviewer said...once I smelled that, I knew too it was a winner.
The bourbon, which I'd thought sounded like a great marrying with peaches, is tasty but not overpowering...just a great subtle mix of flavoring... a slight extra with the sweet peaches.
I followed to the letter with only one exception...I mixed in about a third whole wheat flour with the regular...was just fine. On the rest, instead of my usual "trying to lighten it up" ...I figured, go for it...full-fat cream and butta' for a good old Southern favorite...and it was worth it. But with all that....it is not overly rich at all...just a delightful dessert.
Thanks Tyler...you have never disappointed me...your recipes are always the "Ultimate!"

I used rum instead of bourbon, was absolutely wonderful. I've made it at least 4 times, and my family raves everytime.

I had some raspberries that I wanted to use up as well as a not great nectarine, I added these to the great peaches that I had. I also decreased the sugar slightly and didn't bother peeling the fruit. It was easy and delicious. We had a scoop of vanilla ice cream with it. I will make this again and try it with other fruit. It is now my 'basic cobbler' recipe!

I found some beautiful white peaches for this cobbler. As it was baking, the fragrance that filled the kitchen told me everything I needed to know. The dumplings morphed into a top crust that was golden and crispy, yet it was light at the same time. The bourbon gave the peaches a special flavor. I agree with the other reviewers: this is the best peach cobbler I have ever had.
