I started obssesing over this dish when I watched Tyler make it on T.V. The recipe was so simple I could pretty much just go by memory. I had to pull up the recipe when I got to the dumpling part. Some dumplings call for very little liquid and can be really heavy but I prefer Tylers way. The dumplings were full of flavor and light. Love, love, love, it.

Oh Tyler! This was so good, even my picky, non-vegetable eating 12 year old loved it! He said, "Good Dumplings Mom!" It was a little time consuming for me getting home from work, but boy was it worth the wait. Was unable to find frozen pearl onions, but increased the peas, carrots and celery. Definitely a keeper, but one to be made on the weekend.

My husband says the best chicken and dumplings he's ever tasted and I agree! The chicken broth alone was outstanding and not too salty for our tastes. The only thing I changed was that I added a couple of tablespoons of cornstarch to thicken the sauce more and added an extra 5 minutes time softening the carrots and celery. The dumplings were spot on, fluffy and delicious. Everything about this dish was absolutely delicious. I look forward to making it for visitors as well as family.

My husband loves Chicken and Dumplings so I decided to give it a try, this recipe is easy to follow and came out awesome, he said it was the best he's tasted! I've made it a handful of times since then and it's always been a big hit, I didn't change anything about the recipe.

This may be the best thing I have ever eaten! I used a 5lb roasting chicken and I did add more chicken stock than the sauce calls for. Just added more corn starch to thicken up at the end. I did not shred the chicken, as I like it chunky for chicken and dumplings. I did not think it was salty either, but I did use flake sea salt and not table salt. The dumplings are yummy and I was able to just keep adding more to the pan. I would skim off the cooked ones and add more batter. They even held up leftover! Makes enough for multiple meals. I agree that this would make awesome chicken pot pie filling as well!
I will be making this dish many times this winter!

good ol' fashion chicken and dumplings !!! will be making again and again!! eating leftovers as I write this. boyfriend threw out his recipe for c&d after eating this one. I didn't think it was "too salty" as some others commented . it was very thick the next day, so I kept the extra stock and added a few tablespoons to heat it up. ( my beloved granny always said chicken and dumplings are better the day after . also, I keep some of the chicken in chunks and finely shred the rest ,but that is how it was when I grew up, makes for good texture. This recipe was exactly what my tummy wanted !!!!!
