I use a recipe that is very close to this one. My recipe also calls for 22-25 minutes of baking time, and is baked at 325 degrees F. This recipe is not for a standard layer cake. It is supposed to be soft in the center when first removed from the oven. It should chill (in the refrigerator, much like a cheesecake, for several hours.

The flavor of the chocolate cracked earth cake is, but the cooking time needs some tweaking, or perhaps there was a typo in the baking time. I don't bake too often, and, in retrospect, I realized that 25 minutes is not enough time to thoroughly bake a cake. I did bake the cake for 25 minutes as instructed, and the middle appeared not to be done, so I baked it for an additional 15 minutes, and thought I'd better not exceed the indicated baking time by much more. When I served the cake, I discovered that the inside was the consistency of pudding. I don't think this is the way it was supposed to be.
