This was quick and so easy to make. I'm glad I read the reviews before I made it. I added the bacon as suggested. Also one of the review stated that Paula Deen suggests to use 1 carrot & 1 stalk of celery when you saute the onion. I didn't have any thyme and it tasted fine. WeI had no leftovers. In fact, I'm making it again tonight for an encore. It was really the star of the show and a winner!

I just finished a huge bowl and know it will be even better for lunch tomorrow. I modified because I knew I wanted chowder when I was at the store today and found this recipe after, so I used my "guess" ingredients because I had already bought them: Jalapeno diced, lactaid 2% milk because that's all I can handle. extra salt, pepper and a tiny bit of shredded parm. cheese at serving time. I wish I had a submersion blender, because I could tell that a couple of turns around that and the texture would have been even better. I'm putting 1 on my X-mas list :

This was rich and creamy, and sweet with the corn, but I felt it needed a little extra flavor. I added diced carrot at the beginning, and at the end I added a little Louisiana hot sauce (Tabasco style, some diced roasted red pepper, and some shredded sharp cheddar. Perfect! Served with green chile cornbread for a hearty meal.

This was a delicious soup with a few additions. We added a carrot and stalk of celery in with the onion and a pound of seared scallops at the end - delicious.

My kids loved it. IGood use of fresh corn. thought this recipe was great, I added Canadian bacon, cumin, red paper .flakes, and bit more salt to give it more taste but overall I give this a thumbs up.

I just made this and it's awesome. Super easy, and just great flavors. I used 1% milk so I can just imagine the cream. My family gobbled it up. Seriously delicious.

I have to admit, I tweaked the recipe to my liking, and used grilled corn and some leftover chicken from the previous night's barbeque. I also took the advice of other reviewers and used chicken stock instead. It really enhanced the flavors of the chowder and it was delicious. My family loved it and has eaten up all the leftovers. We hardly ever eat leftovers!

I have been making Tyler's corn chowder for several years now, and it remains the best chowder recipe in my book. I slightly vary the corn and potato ratios based on what I have around, and I've always used chicken stock because I think veg stock is wussy.
I love the idea of frying up bacon and cooking the veggies in the bacon grease! I recently started cooking everything with bacon grease, and I am so happy about it. I've always used full fat cream in this recipe, so I can't speak to whether it tastes as good with lower fat substitutions.
I serve it with grated cheese and bacon bits on top, and it gets rave reviews!

I was very happy to see a recipe for corn chowder which didn't rely on bacon or chicken stock for "flavor"... the flavor comes from the fresh corn. I used fresh corn, onions, and potatoes from my local Amish farmers market, added some red bell pepper, red pepper flake, and dried thyme and cumin. Skipped the cream, it was thick enough without from the starch of the potatoes and corn. Totally rocked! Tyler's recipes are usually a perfect basic recipe that you can adapt to your choosing. Add meat if you must, but you'll miss out on the pure unadulterated taste of fresh corn... you might as well just make a ham soup if you need to have something "meaty" happy cooking!
