I used my (husband approved recipe for cornbread and added the bacon per Tyler's instructions. Mmmmm. Bacon. This makes a great side for a meatless soup.

I LOOOVE Tyler's recipes. This is the exception. It looked great on TV and in theory. The finished product was tasteless and the texture was awful! STEER CLEAR!!

I hate to post a negative comment as I always have great success with Tyler's recipes, but we found this to be a little undercooked in the middle even after leaving in a little longer and a bit too greasy from the bacon grease. Love the BBQ Chicken recipe though!

This is a delicious cornbread recipe - it's my "go to". No; it's not a sweet cornbread. For those of you who want your cornbread to taste like cake just use a Jiffy cornbread mix (which I also like but for those of you who want a good, earthy, texturally pleasing good soppin' cornbread, this one's for you!

    Great job, Tyler.

I use self-rising flour and cornmeal, so I do not use the baking powder and soda. Also, I do not drain the bacon bits - I just add the drippings with the bacon to the batter then pour into the skillet.

As several other members have pointed out, the directions on this website are wrong!!! I just watched the show and there are some changes. The 2 tablespoons of sugar should be heaping, and the baking powder, baking soda, and salt should all have 1 teaspoon, not 2.

Before Tyler gets too many poor reviews, I just watched the episode and he used ONE TEASPOON EACH of baking soda, baking powder and salt. He also said to use a couple of 'big' tablespoons of sugar. Thanks Brian for your earlier comment about these errors! The cornbread was delicious!

I wish I could post a picture because it looked gorgeous after I pulled it from the oven. However, I don't think Kosher salt was a good suggestion because the bread came out a tad too salty for my taste. But the texture was perfect. Next time I'll use less salt, or a finer salt and a little more sugar.
