I love a tradional Kir Royale so I thought I'd give this a try even though lots of the reviews were negative. I also ended up with something too thick to use. My "syrup" just sat in the bottom of my glasses. It made the drink look nice but added no flavor. Way too much work for little return.

My wife and I drank too many of these and got into an arguement over the holiday decorations in our front yard. Whoever said add the vodka is dead wrong.

Cook the mixture on the stove, and let it go for like a minute or two after the berries start to pop open. You should be able to smoosh them with your spoon and there should still be some liquid in the pan with the berries.

Keep a close eye on it... If you let it go for 12 minutes like the recipe says, you will end up with jam. I found this out the hard way.

And like the other reviewers said, DON'T BLEND - USE A STRAINER!

Following the recipe on the website was a disaster. First time cranberry jam that clumped in the bottom of the glass; second time cranberrry mush. So, we re-watched Tyler making the kir, which includes NO BLENDER, SHORT cooking time on stove-top, and pouring through a sieve to get the syrup. With this method, the drinks were both delicious and festive with the frozen cranberries in the glass. This isn't the first time the website recipe has not matched the preparation on the show. Food Network needs to be more careful with these "translations." For this recipe, the website directions led to unusable results. Fortunately, I bought enough frozen berries to keep trying several days before planning to serve on Christmas Eve. In the end, they were a perfect beginning to our Christmas Eve family gathering.

If you notice, the favorable reviews didn't follow the recipe as written. Those of us who did were disappointed. Although I must admit, I like Kimberly from Fresno's approach, add enough Vodka to just about any drink, and it's better.

I followed the recipe, except I used fresh instead of frozen cranberries! result was cranberry mush, not syrup. I added some more orange juice, but you need to start with more liquid in this recipe, other than 2 T. of orange juice. Someone should re-check and re-post the recipe. Tyler ?

I made this recipe as written and the cranberry syrup was like jam and just sat there in the glass. So the taste was just champagne with an eventual gulp of cranberry mush. Not impressed!

Watched Tyler make these today and he didn't blend the cranberry mixture which makes sense or you wouldn't have syrup you would have mush. Plan on making these for Xmas and I'm sure they will be great. Remember, don't blend.

This looked beautiful and seemed easy to make. Something went wrong with the cranberry mixture....nothing syrup-y about it; just congealed cranberries. I tried straining a second time using my yogurt strainers. No luck. I gave up and will use frozen cranberry concentrate with some orange zest for our holiday Cranberry Kir Royale.

This was so simple and truly a crowd pleaser. I also use the base to make a cranberry puree martini. I substituted lemon zest and frozen lemonade in a can. I added a bit of vodka prior to blending. This makes an incredible martini! I added some cranberries soaked in the puree on the top. Enjoy!
