I am very disappointed with most of the comments about this recipe. I love watching Tyler and I love to cook. Patience is needed to make a caramel at least 10 min in a med.heat. I fixed the recipe by adding only 2 tablespoon water just to wet the sugar and add butter when it started to become syrupy. Added the delicious apples to the caramel for another 2 min before I pour it to the ramekins. I followed the rest of the directions and it was sooooo easy and very delicious.
    Good job Tyler !!!!!

Please believe the reviewers, not what you saw on the show. Some kind reviewers have made good suggestions to try and fix this recipe such as either adjusting the recipe for the caramel or using store bought, but it still wouldn't work because the apples throw off too much liquid. This is actually a recipe for stewed apples with a puff pastry crust. Yuck.

Recipe definitely isn't right. Lots of issues - all have been mentioned by others. I should have read the reviews before making this but it looked so easy when he made it on his show. I usually like Tyler's recipes, so not sure what went wrong with this one. Would not make it again.

Sure glad I read the reviews before making this dish, way to many mixed commits. It sure looked good and easy, but after reading what other cooks said, I won't be making this one...sorry Tyler

Man, where do I begin with this catastrophe? First, the sugar water mixture never carmelized. It never got dark, it just stayed a nice clear off white color. I even let it boil down until it was almost burned on the bottom of the pan. No brown color. I tried adjusting the mixture after reading a few of the comments. Still nothing. I can only assume that the reason it didn't work is because I wasn't using the identical pan that Tyler used in the episode.

On to the puffed pastries. In the recipe it says "one sheet." Well, the pack of puffed pastries I bought come in sheets of 18. In the episode, Tyler cuts one giant piece of puffed pastry, and after baking for the 20min, it expands. One sheet in Tyler world = ??? in the real world? Did he mean a whole pack or box? Oh, and the comment "these ingredients can be found at your local grocery store" is 100% incorrect. I have gone to Ralphs, Vons, Whole Foods and Trader Joes and have found nothing. Again, thanks for the misinformation.

Long story short, make something else. Stay away from his desserts. I saved the apples to use for oatmeal in the morning.

    Waste of time.

When I first saw this recipe on TV, I thought I would look it up and get all my directions. Well it turned out wonderful. I did make a change with the sauce, because I was in a hurry and had a dinner party so I used a caramel sauce I had handy by using brown sugar, white corn syrup, butter, and cream. Otherwise I followed the recipe and it turned out delicious. I got more comments about this dessert. If I had more time, I would have used his caramel recipe, but mine only took about 3 minutes to make. I also cooked my apples first, which I always do when I make an apple pie. Through experience, I always feel my apples need to be cooked a little because they usually won't bake through otherwise. This turned out perdectly the first time I baked it and the many other times thereafter. Tyler is terrific. I do more recipes from his show than any other, I really enjoy him.

The first time I let the caramel cook too long. You really need to be watchful. The do over came out fine, and overall it was a success and my friends really like it. I used Granny Smith apples, much better than Fuji.

Those of you who made major changes - ie HALVED the amount of sugar, changed baking time etc, then rate it 5 stars - that's not helpful. To the person who said this was a great light dish, OMG what do you usually eat?

Overall it tasted yummy only downfall was when I inverted them the majority of the caramel stuck was stuck on the bottom and hardened. Not sure what I did wrong. Had that not happened would have love dit!

PLEASE REVISE TYLER! so others don't have a disaster like I did while guests were waiting for this dessert! I had to refer to my Joy of Cooking Book for a similar sauce which through my timing way off ! I was frantic!
